Re: BOOSTED B18C5 COMPLETE BUILD DAILY DRIVER 400HP?
Alright 2 questions regarding my water meth system. Do any of you guys see a problem with mounting my tank to the subwoofer box, or will it mess with the level sensor?
You want to have that on the chassis. The most stable area on the car, and not some subwoofer box, no matter how well its bolted-in.
Next I know its ideal to run the line underneath outside of the cabin, but my failsafe gauge says mount the flow sensor as close as possible to injection point without having it in the engine bay, so will I be fine running the line through the car?
put it outside the cabin, but make sure the line isn't pinched.

Yea that's what I figured about the mounting just wanted to see, ill just stick to my original location which is all the way back underneath where the trunk closes. I don't really have any other option I have NO interior in the rear its completely empty. As for the line, if I run it outside the car where am I supposed to run the flow sensor at for the failsafe? Its supposed to be mounted in car, as close to injection point without being in engine bay

That sub would do nothing but aerate the water/meth mixture and cause injection problems... since the pump would basically being sucking nothing but air.

I mean, you could run it through the interior but if anything ever happens like a leak, you have methanol in direct contact with a lot of electrical sources and since methanol burns clear you wouldn't really know something was wrong until you had an issue.
you might have to run it outside and then have 2 bulkhead fittings that go through the floor board just for the purpose of mounting the flow sensor, say under the dash on the flat in the middle..

Yea I know that's what i'm worried about if I run it through the car. That seems like a pretty good idea. Do you haapen to know if they sell the bulkhead fittings with the push lock fittings on both sides? I actually have 2 bulkhead fittings with the pushlocks on one side that could maybe work but I have no way of connecting the hose to the bottom.

If I want to only have my meth injection on my high map(ill have two maps) I need to hook up the power for the pump to the switch that ill use to switch my maps correct? Otherwise the injection will always be on?

you should use a separate rpm trigger so you can control it separate from the map switch point... that is, have your ecu switch to high map and have an rpm based output activate the meth injection at the same rpm. it might be a little more work in the beginning but if you ever have problems with say, the ecu switching high maps you'll still have a saftey net because the meth injection will still activate...
also you should have some sort of failsafe map if theres a problem with the meth system, like say flow falls below a certain rate then the ecu reverts to a safe map, retards timing and lowers boost levels
I wouldn't use push locks for meth... Use standard an-fittings... more secure especially when dealing with a highly flammable and volatile substance.

Well the whole kit comes with push lock fittings on everything so i'm sure their fine to use. As for having the safe map I don't believe I can hook up the meth injection to my hondata. Someone said that hondata supported it but when I asked in the hondata forum they said that they didn't believe that hondata supported it.

I wouldnt run hard plastic line under the car with push locks... hit something the wrong way and it will cut that line in half or rip it out of one of the fittings.
does your meth kit have a standalone controller with a failsafe system? normally they have some sort of output wire for when the failsafe is triggered it outputs voltage. you could wire this to the hondata to simply trigger a map change. I do believe hondata supports multiple maps/map flipping

Yes it has the controller and I also have the failsafe system that comes separate which has outputs for the EMS. And yes hondata supports map switching. But when I asked they said they didn't believe that Hondata supported the aem failsafe

if it supports map switching all you should have to do is take that output from the meth kit and wire it into an input for the hondata and configure that input to switch to map X when that input is triggered
I just cant remember what the aem outputs as far as a singal.. whether it just grounds that wire, sends 0-5v or what... might want to call aem or look at the manual on their site to see if you can determine what the output wire uses as a signal

Look to Aquamist, Devil's own, or Cooling Mist to have the ON/OFF effect in your tuning.
