Boosted B17 92 Gsr? Few Questions
Im getting ready to place a order with Go-autoworks here soon for a Street turbo kit for my 92 Gsr. Im going to be looking to make around 250 or so . The motor is a stock 150,xxx mile well taken care of B17. Does anyone have any experience with how these are turboed, I assume similar to a B16? ? I was going to go with a set of Dsm injectors and a 255 pump. It will be getting tuned at IMW once it's finished. I will probley only be running maybe 8-10lbs at the most. What do you guy's think? Bad idea ? just looking for thoughts and opinions. Thanks

My 92 gsr is on a custom turbo kit, 750's, walbro and tuned on crome with e-85. Runs uber great on 8 lbs, 189,xxx stock motor. It's all in the tuning after you get the kit. I'd get bigger injectors if you wanna go e-85. I'd say im bout 230-240 whp on 8 pounds for comparison to what you want.

my brother-in-law had a 92 Da9 with a jdm b16a boosted with a small t25 and it was alot of fun. he was only running 6 psi internal wastegate. tuned by do it dyno back in the day. If I remember right he was dynoed at 189whp and 196 ft lbs. He was already full boost at 2800 rpm LOL. He was running the hondata with RC 440 cc injectors, aem fpr, and 2 1/2" exhaust piping. intercooler piping was 2 1/4" from the intercooler to the TB. and 2" from the compressor to the intercooler.
Very fast and fun daily driver. He could never get good traction even in 2nd gear. I always love driving it when he lets me. Then it got stolen

when i first boosted mine with 160xxx miles the first run gettin tuned on the dyno with 10lbs ,the car made it to 4500 rpms and the head lifted, coolant shot out and it ended up cracking 2 sleeves...id recommend ARP headstuds for sure. But its your motor

I have a 92 GSR as well, all original b17 with 280k miles on it, put headstuds, head gasket, valve seals and all the other basic turbo stuff ran 9psi making 278whp for 8months without any issue.

check and retorque the head bolts man
oem head bolts should be safe to around 300, and some people have used them at double that

im bone stock motor making 300hp at 10 psi on a 57 trim using dsm 450cc injectors for your power level the dsms are a great way to go, cost effective and reliable i picked up my set for 120 already cleaned and flow tested. youre stock motor will be fine if u keep it under 300 anything over 300 is just playing with fire. rod bolts and head studs are a recommendation on stock if youre going over 300.

Re: Boosted B17 92 Gsr? Few Questions
I was gonna go boost on my b17 as well. I decided to ditch that and boost a b16 due to bottom end parts being readily available and not having to spend 800 on crower rods. I also have a 92 GSR and love it, dont worry tho i still have the b17 its going no where! Not trying to knock your thread or anything. Also if you are shooting for 250 i would go with the b17. I am shooting for 400 thats why i swapped it.
