Boosted B16A or Boosted B18B??? Curious about your opinions....
I am about to do a swap in my 92 CX, i am shooting for it to be boosted later on, but i am curious what you guys think is a better idea...
An LS Turbo, or a B16A Turbo? I am wondering what you guys think is better, vtec vs non-vtec, torque vs no torque etc....
Well let me know, thanks

Both are good choices. I personally feel that they have equal potential. The HP that the B16 will produce is set neutral by the Torque that the LS will produce. You could always save a little more money and go w/ the B18c1. The times in my sig were produced by a B18c1. Good luck.

yea man, i love the torque curve on my boosted ls. i gain 100 ft/lbs from 3500 to 4500 rpms, and then it just sits at 200 flat to over 6k rpms. it makes for a fun ride on the street.
i honestly feel that the ls might be more forgiving to any mistuning or things of that nature than a b16, mainly due to the lower static compression.

Exactly. How do you guys like the LS tranny though? How does that feel with the boost and what not?
The main reason i dont want an LS is because of the tranny being long geared and "like the CX tranny" which i have and hate sooo badly...
let me know

get whatever is cheapest.... both blocks will handle the same power. the LS has a better powerband IMO.

I had the LS tranny on the boosted EF and it did well. It had tons of top end(speed) and around 7K in 4th netted 110mph on the 22's at the strip. I now have the GSR tranny in my EG and like it as well except that I can see that even on the 24's I may still have to shift into 5th on the track. If that's the case, I'll just have to get some crower valvetrain for it . Both are good choices but, the GSR tranny gets my vote.

I changed from a GSR tranny to B16 gears and here's a comparison: https://honda-tech.com/zeropost...23036.

I love my LS tranny and wouldnt trade it for the world. 5th gear is its only down fall. IF you have to shift to 5th at the end... your screw cuz itll fall outta boost (mine does w/ a t4)
with my GSR tranny, the gears were too tight, resulting in no traction in any gear but 4th. And 4th still would try to get away from you.
On 22's i was able to trap 116 at the end of the 1/4 and still had plenty of RPM's left. On the speeded 4th tops out at like 127 with my 7500 revlemit
For a high HP car I would recommend the LS for street use and if on slicks anything with tighter gearing that will keep you in 4th.
On 20" MT slicks with my GSR tranny, i was hitting the revlmit of "5th" gear at the end of the 1/4. trapping 110 only. (7k rev)
Unless you need to stay up high in the power band and have plenty of rev's (DOHC vtec) Id stick with an LS tranny.
