Boost by gear with Hondata S300?
I'm planning on getting the JS Version II Dual Stage boost controller. Looks really simple and reliable.
I'm using Hondata S300 as EMS. Is it somehow possible to activate the solenoid on the boost controller when using 3. gear or higher with the S300? (to get boost by gear)

Yes, but you are going to be shooting yourself in the foot. That solenoid is what you use S300 with. If you just used the solenoid, you would have a better boost controller.
If you were to use that boost controller, you can use a nitrous output or use the PWM as 0 or 100% (on or off)

So if I can control it with the S300 to switch from one stage to another depending on gear, that's all I need.

The nice thing about this boost controller and the sole reason I started selling it is the end user adjustability it offers.
Most people don't want anything to do with PWM when it comes to changing the boost in the software.
So this was the next best option for a nice dual stage controller that can be turned on/off with an ecu output or a toggle switch.
Plus I have noticed dramatic changes in boost levels when using PWM when the air temp changes, which is to be expected. But if you are in a situation where you cannot adjust your boost level (laptop battery dies, eprom version of a program, etc) you are basically **** out of luck. I have basically stopped using PWM on cars that don't use an end user adjustable management.
But to answer your question, you can either change levels via an aux output via MPH, which isn't a true by gear boost control, but it will get it very close. Or you can use the PWM circuit in the ECU like mentioned above and just have it go 100% in 3rd gear and above.
I am working on a write up for installing this controller and using both methods for switching boost levels through the ecu.

Re: Boost by gear with Hondata S300?
if you dont want to do boost by gear with is the obvious better controller you can just activate your manual second stage with a nos/aux output form the ecu. go into the nos/aux output1 and set perameters accordingly. but you wont get by gear it will be rpm or speed that varries the second stage so tricky to get right

Here is a quick "how to" of sorts that I wrote up tonite.
I will add to it later and probably move the text to a bigger page that isn't directly on the site.
But for now this will give you an idea.
http://www.j-k-tuning.com/JS_MBC.php
It covers using a toggle switch, using the ecu outputs and using the PWM output.
If you guys have any questions/comments/etc just let me know and I will try my best to answer/address them.
