Boost is cutting off @ 12 psi????
Hi, I have a 97 honda accord with an h23 motor w/gt35 turbo. The problem is that I had the car tuned & it made 16psi @ 443 horse 396 torque w/potential to make more (was a long night and just wanted to get home). The car drove good for a few days & then the boost started to cut out @ 12psi, air/fuel & vac press looks good. When driving @ about 4800rpm it gets to 12psi & holds until 7500rpm. The setup is aem ems & boost solenoid with gt35 turbo, tial wastate & blowoff valve. I have disconnected the wastegate & plugged the vac lines. Tested the solenoid & inspected all of the vac lines & exhaust pipping. We have also swapped the intercooler out. BUT still have the same trouble.
The only thing I can think of is:
1) Turbo failure
2) Some type clogging in the intake or exhaust
But in the exhaust it is straight through with no cat @ 3". Intake has a custom fabed manifold with all brand new pipping.
Any ideas?

Usually if its a boost leak, you end up with high IAT's, slow spool, and an overspinning turbo going far out of its efficiency range. Basicly it spins fast enough to make more psi (say 20psi), but you only get 12psi. That turbo is more than big enough to push 30psi efficiently. If it was exhaust, you'd have a REALLY slow spool, since you have to bypass lots of exhaust in order for the WG to never open (since you're still 4psi below target).
If it was EBC related, it would not be sending enough air to the top port of the WG, or the EBC's MAP sensor is FUBAR. See if you can manually turn it up 4psi on the EBC, then see what your boost gauge reports. You could also test it by blocking the bottom line (clamp/etc) and it should be somewhere between target and spring pressure. (<U>just be careful! could boost spike</U>)

Re: Boost is cutting off @ 12 psi???? (boostedh23)
Well I had pulled off the WG & put a plate in & plugged all the vac lines, so it should have spiked. Still I had the smae trouble, I even had my tuner close the WG fully with the EMS during all points & still same problem.
Today I swapped out the turbo w/another gt35 my friend had and it made 16psi no problems.
THANK FOR ALL THE HELP
