I want to know how teh fawk it knows what gear you're in

i installed an apexi avc-r in an eclipse once, i didnt set it up for it, but it looked as it if had provisions for gear based boost. somehow it "learned" what gear the car was in.

based off the speed sensor.

i think the best boost control is a motec ecu. sure its expensive, but when you add up the price of your stand alone, then add a speed based boost control, and misc things, you'll see that you get your money's worth.

absolutely the best but extremely time consuming to set up correctly(traction control) and illegal in most sanctioned events.

i don't think its considered traction control. isn't the innovative boost controller and apex avcr based upon the same idea, limiting boost according to speed?

the motec traction control function compares the speed of the driven wheels vs the non driven wheels, and momentarily cuts ignition and/or fuel reducing engine power when a certain amount of slip is detected.

i believe the motec traction control feature is not allowed in nhra, nopi, idrc..........

i was told that the techs check the wheels and if there are any sensors visible whatsoever, you are dq'ed.

The blitz sbc-id has one with the power meter hooked up. You program it based on speed. So 0-25mph no boost, 25-35mph 7psi, 35-60mph 13psi, 60-80mph 17psi,80+mph 25 psi, you get the idea...

this is true. it's too bad that it isn't allowed, but i guess its understandable since it takes out the driver in the 1320 equation.

A friend of mine is using that on his GT80'ed camaro, i'll talk to him about it and see how you go about setting it to vary boost depending on gear or whatnot.
