blown turbo after 4k miles
I bought a Garrett 60-1 brand new and only put 4000 miles on it, and the last 2000 miles the car couldn’t even go above 4500 rpms due to clutch issues, so it never saw any boost. so basically it had 2000 miles of daily driving and occasional boost and its blown; like its beyond rebuild totalled. I had a -3an oil feed line coming from a golden eagle filtered sandwich adapter and my return line was a -10an using all AN fittings and it had no dips or horizontal areas. how does a turbo blow that fast? I don’t understand. does garrett have any kind of warranty against this? I basically have a 600 dollar paper weight after 4 months

Why did you feed your oil from a sandwhich adapter?
Why not use a block feed kit that comes with the feed line usually?
Do you know what caused it, and where did you get a Brand New Garrett 60-1 for $600?
Sorry to hear about it man.

I made a restrictor from a piece of aluminum sheet metal I bought from home depot.. my turbo was smoking pretty bad, now it's VERY miniscule.
edit: btw use a 1/16th bit for the hole

i also can't seem to keep a turbo for more than about 2-3k
I've tried restrictors, i've tried different feed lines, different ports on the block. 4 Turbo's in the last 2 years... I've even got a 1inch almost completly verticle drain and 4 lines comming off the motor for crank case pressure ventilation. Going fast is just to much fun so i keep blowing money on another turbo & make another change to the motor, but they keep shitting out on me..
Sorry about your loss, make sure you've got good ventilation for your crank case, i'm installing an oil gauge at the turbo so that i can moniter whats going on with my setup.

you dont really need a restrictor with a -3 line, and using a sandwich adapter is a much better way to feed your turbo than using a t at the pressure sender. and i can get them for 600 thru yoparts since im a member

-3 or -4 I am sure you need a restrictor. I have ebay junk on my car with over 8K miles on the setup, many 4k rpm road trips 4 plus hrs and a simple function 7 restrictor feed flange. Just a idea, I would try a restrictor on your 5th turbo.

Re: (patrick4588)
My garrett 60 trim messed up after about 400 miles... i over revved the motor and cracked the head but im not sure if this contributed to it or not. The turbo wouldnt boost and the wheel wouldnt spin til about 4000rpm. Pretty much froze up
Regardless, my point for replying is when i sent my turbo to garrett to get rebuilt i left the restrictor mounted to it. When i got it back the restrictor was in a seperate bag with a note saying its not needed for this turbo. I emailed garrett just to be sure and they said as long as a -3an line is used to feed the turbo it will be fine with average oil pressure. I was using a .060 restrictor
