Default blowing steam out valve cover vent and low compression in cylinder 2

I have a bone stock b16 with a .50 trim turbo and i was running 5 pds and today decided to try a 7 pd spring and i ran the car got back turned it off and when i started it noticed steam coming out of the valve cover. Did a compression test and all the cylinders were ok but cylinder 2 has 75 psi. I added some oil and it went up to 100psi. I also misshifted last night but it didnt blow the steam or air out of the valve cover till after i am put in the 7 pd spring. What do you think i did? I am hoping i just popped the head gasket, i am praying i didnt mess up the rings.

Also car has 120k miles, compression before i turboed it was perfect and the car was owned by an older gentlemen car didnt burn any oil ran great.

Right now i am not overheating, i am not smoking out the exhaust or burning any oil it appears. Just seems like what ever is coming out the valve cover is steam but smells like exhaust kinda.

Sounds like you blew the motor.

Sounds like you blew the ringlands on #2 cylinder. It was caused by you turning up the boost without tuning.

if you tear the engine down spray some wd-40 on the top of the head, if anything leaks from the C.C. then you bent valves from your miss shift

well thats what happens when you get boost happy and turn it up without the proper tune...just take it as a lesson learned.

are b16's worth building for boost or would i be better off grabbing a ls bottom end?

just pull the head and look, if its "steam" then you probably popped the headgasket, either way you'll be able to see when you pull the head.

well i did a leak down test tonight and cylinder 2 had 55 % leakage and the compression was 100.......does this confirm its the rings and not bent valves? i couldnt really tell where the air was leaking out of.

yeah it sound like you cracked the ringlands...i think if it was bent valves it would read more towards 0 compression

time for some eagle big bolt rods and endyn roller wave pistons!

then 450hp!!!! well maybe high 300's with that turbo running some silly amounts of boost

The same thing happen to me about a week ago. And all i'm doing is putting JE pistons in and keeping the stock rods.

I had a bone stock b16 tuned @ 11psi making 281WHP. The motor lasted me for a good 7 months, daily driving 60+ miles a day and beating on it on the weekend

yeah stock rods are pretty stout. compressive forces are alot easier for the rod to cope with than tensile.

You should replace the your stock rods with eagle's since you have the engine torn down. Plus, eagle rods with arp rod bolts are only 300 dollars. There is no reason not to get them..cutting corners will just result in more problems down the road.

i know i should upgrade the rods while i'm at it. BUT i'm trying to spend as less as possible.
And my tuner told me to go this route since the stock b16 rods can take a beating
