Default bleed valve boost controllers, do they really cause lag?

im just wondering cause i made a spring and ball type BC and i dont like it so i took it off. im thinking of using a needle valve to make a "bleed " type controller but i hear they cause some lag. why would this be?

On my srt4 it increased spool time.

that is what i was wondering cause on my eclipse it worked fine but ppl are saying it does that
