Icon7 Bisimoto's 1st full Turbo build: Quest for 700whp D16Z WagoVan

For years, I have focused on naturally aspirated performance. I loved, and still do love, the challenge of sailing in uncharted waters, and extracting what was seen as impossible power.

Last year, Bisimoto Engineering participated in a high profile engine challenge/shootout, to determine which shop could produce the most HP/litre in a streetable, unleaded fuel engine. Cosworth, and I opted for all motor builds, as a torture test was promised for the engines, and the units had to fit in a factory chassis. Long story, short, other competitors with boosted setups faired very well in the competition, and even though Bisimoto with a 360 hp F22A engine placed better than Cosworth, we did not win the event.

At the award ceremony, I was approached by an employee of the winning team, and asked why we chose to run n/a. I simply answered that we wanted to build an engine in the true spirit of the competition: a reliable, streetable, chassis friendly engine. I guess that answer was not good enough, as he responded, "didn't you build all motor, because that is all you know?"

I quickly shared that n/a is quite difficult, and that we have built, and tuned customers boosted engines for years, and frankly, it was not as challenging. He chuckled and walked away saying, "yea, all motor is all you know".

Well, after that interaction, I promptly walked over to Jonathan Wong of SuperStreet magazine, and shared with him my new desire:
To build the most powerful street, small displacement Honda ever...in a Wagovan (just to be absurd). It would not be a dyno queen, but a car that will be driven, to and from events, shows, meets and...the supermarket.

pm sent...took me a minute

No biggie really, as I've moved on and have decided it's time to move over to another type of car after a decade of building these. Just have always respected and admired your work and have always cheered you on to beat those K cars. Just had an issue bugging me, and felt I wanted to pass it along. What's done is done though...no biggie.

I'll be looking forward to following your build here though...looks exciting. You and these wagons. You still have your other one?

Looks SICK!!

What's the ignition setup there? Coil on Plug? Distributerless? **EDIT** Reading owns me

Also I see you have the Valve cover vents in the front where there's no baffling? did you put some in or do you figure the spark plug tubes will do enough?

And those intake ports look GIGANTIC! any chance we could see a shot of the exhuast ports?

I'm sure whoever goaded you into forced induction is probobly regretting it now.

Non, you are quite wise, as the tube do provide adequate baffling. Agh, I did not take any exhaust port pics. My apologies.

That's ok... can't wait to see what this thing puts down...

Also... no LMA's?

How much does a full COP setup like that go for? is it even possible with hondata? or do you have to be running AEM EMS?

Forgive my naive nature, but what is LMA?

The complete system retails for under a grand ($1000): Coils, EPM, and Twinfire. You can only use AEM or another EMS that offers COP options, but for the price and functionality, the AEM is the very best. I run it on all of my cars!

lost motion assemblies it looks like they're not mounted in the cam girdle in the assembly pic.

Good observation, as they are not needed when degreeing a cam in. After we locked the vtec on cyl 1, and degreed in the Bisimoto level 3.6 intake to 110 degrees lobe centre, we reassembled the rocker assembly with the proper vtec mechanisms in place.

This looks like an awesome project but it would had being killer if it was a 4WD civic wagon.

Reminds me so much of the NuFormz CRX(R.I.P. Shawn) back in the old days even thought that was a drag car but everytime I hear the ultimate SOHC I see that image for some reason.

GL and hope to see it one day on the road.
