I would personally piece together my own kit, or if I had the money I would get a drag get. My buddy is running the greddy kit in his del sol at 7psi and it seems like a good kit.

i've also heard that the greddy one is good, but i would do what you suggested , to go custom....that way you get the proper parts you want for your own application..

good luck

http://www.turbod16.com ... read everything in the faq section and do some searches. but to answer your question: t25, t28, *gt28*, t3, 14b, and the ihi from the apexi kit is great. all of those are decent. it just depends on what you want, and what you can find. if you don't know anything and are lazy, you're better off just getting a kit. but if you want to learn and save money, piece your own kit together.

apexi is discontinued. but you can still get it no problem. i dunno why they did... i guess it just wasn't selling. that doesn't really make sense either... its such a good kit. that turbo owns.

the greddy t25 is good but u ill want more power get a junkyard nissan twin turbo-turbo
its a nissan t3 full spools at 35oo rpm and u can boost up to 18psi
(but there r guys boostin 14psi on a t25)
after all they both r really smal turbos

you can find garret t25's for fairly cheap and they will work great for 12lbs of boost and under. you can go higher but they start getting out of their effiecency range by 14psi.

if you never had a boosted car, 5-8 lbs will be more than enough to run. id say stick in the 5-6 range.

i believe one of the reasons why they weren't able to sell as well is because the systems are not carb legal.

I used the GReddy kit on my Y8 for about 10500 miles before selling. I was very pleased with it although they sent me a defective blue box. It's a very good street setup. Doesn't make the most power but it really turned my '97 EX sedan into quite a sleeper (from the rear since the FMIC kind of gave things away), surprising many people. The fit of all the parts was tops, and everything bolted together like stock.

Without an IC, I started spooling around 3000-3300 rpm. With the Type 31, I began spooling around 2700 rpm. I can't comment on the performance of the kit with the blue box because I was basically stuck on a 5500 rpm redline, but once I upgraded to a different fuel setup (and dyno tuned), the power kept going until 6300 rpm and then tapered off to redline. This was at 5 psi.

I'm selling my practically brand new Apexi kit, all new Earl's fittings and stainless lines, gauges and pod, Greddy turbo timer, and oil pan for 1850 shipped....

I reach full boost 7 psi in 5th gear by 2300 rpm with stock compression...9.2:1.

The kit is great....ball bearing turbo, dual chamber BOV, 2.5 inch downpipe...super clean kit

there's a Greddy t25? The sohc's use the td04-15g which is about the same as the t25...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Tad &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">custom is cheaper though, </TD></TR></TABLE>

That isnt always the case...I've seen Greddy kits for as cheap as $900 with IC and gauges...Custom may be cheaper if you get real good deals though..

The Greddy is a VERY great start up kit for someone entering the FI world for the first time...for the price, it really is a best bang for the buck (speaking from experience when i first got my greddy), though I often wish i wouldve gotten the BB Apex-i turbo with the nice FMIC...But year, the Greddy is a nice set up for a first time booster and nice set up for the streets...At 10.5 psi i was surprising a couple of cars around my area

GReddy: from experience
Apex-i: from reading what parts it has
Custom: things add up but its what i have now

err,
well I was looking to build up either a custom or find a used greddy,
and I NEVER saw a single person selling a greddy kit for a price like that.
or at least not a full kit.
if the kit was complete(with IC and whatever other nicknacks) it was always 1k or more). Cuz you have to remember the 1500 greddy price is without IC or anything else.

I have a custom kit, that only needs charge piping and fuel management to complete, and it cost me under $400 so far

Marauder uses it. His dyno numbers are in his sig. Very impressive, too.

the edelbrock kit uses the wonderful gt28 turbo. its too damn expensive, but it's a good kit i guess. piece everything together yourself and save 1000 bucks.
