Which is the Best Turbo for my setup ??
Ok guys, heres the thing, I have an eg hatch that some of you may have seen on other threads, its finally going turbo this month. I however sold my turbo that i had bought for the setup orginally. It was a t3 super 60. slight shaft play. Im picky I dont want any, i dont think its worth it. So, I need another turbo. The thing is that im not sure which is best suited for me. right now the bottom end is stock. top is gsr cams, skunk2 gears, itr mani, euro r tb, jun flyhweel, hondatas2b, itr tranny, exedy stg2. cusotm stainless egual length mani with custom stainless 3" dp with switch. its a jdm16 btw
Im looking for a Turbo that will spool quickly and hold strong till redline. Ill be going to the track with it finally for the first time once its tuned, but its a daily driver really. so i need it to be reliable, yet fun as hell. I wana quick spool for the street. but strong enough for the track so i can get a little crazy. If you guys can post you opinions on which and why and personal experiences with them. how they perform, what rpm is full boost, wil it hold. etc questions like that. Those would really help me out. I cant make up my mind on which to get.

The best turbo is a matter of opinion. In my opinion the turbo you had would have been perfect for boost levels of 8-12psi. If you are going for more power go with a T3/T4. Garrett is a good turbo to stick with. http://www.spooledmotorsports.com is a good place to find used t3 turbos for around $150. Bought one from them a year ago and it is still going strong.

I've got a td04 that's going to go on my car soon. It's a pretty small turbo. It's supposed to be good for quick spooling and pushes about 8psi.
What kind of numbers are you looking for? HP goals, psi you want to boost to.

my thoughts are.. since i have a stock b16.. 00 si .. i am going with a gt28rs.. its expensive at 1200, but lot of people believe its one of the best street turbos..
i only wanna make like 300 whp max.. so i think this turbo is best suited for my needs, which are similar to yours.. gl

On a 1.6L at about 15 psi that would be a great match to make somewhere in the neighborhood of 300hp (no idea on what kind of power you'd make really) but i did a lot of compressor matching a while back for my 1.6L and this was one of my top choices. Its dual ball bearing so it will spool quicker than most turbos, it has a pretty well matched a/r for that displacement, and it should make full boost by about 3000 rpm or so. Not saying it WILL but it should, hope that helps.
P.S. They are expensive, but they should be well worth the money. (I cheaped out and used a T-25 )

If you're on a budget and want something small that'll spool quick I'd reccomend looking for something that came off of a car like an evoVIII or something like that.

why did you decide to change your mind about the t3 super 60? Shouldn't it spool pretty quickly and make pretty good power till redline?

Re: (klubhed1)
the gt32 is the perfect in between turbo. because below it is the GT30R which is ball bearing and it cost alot, and then the one above the GT32 is the GT35 / gt35R and thats just big for a stock motor etc..
so its a great medium i think..
and yes its worth spending the extra money for its a turbo turbo, newer technology and newer blades..

The T3 super 60 trim .48 would even spool fast on an SOHC, depends really on what kinda power you're lookin for

Its between the gt32 and the t3/t4oe 50 trim. im trying to get the best price I can on each and that will help me decide a little. I just cant make up my mind if there is really such a difference performance wise for price. hmmm
