Best turbo for 1/4 times on Ls teg
So I was wondering....because I saw this guy
http://www.team-integra.net/fo...age=1
and he is running like high 12 on a t28 with like 8 PSI. I want around 280-300WHP.
What is the best turbo for 1/4 mile times, horsepower is nothing to brag about when someone with less HP runs faster because their power band is better. I will keep the block stock. I'm stuck between getting a T3 60trim, T3/t04e 54 trim, or T3/t04e 57 trim. Any experience or help would be awesome .

i dunno why anyone would want a 57 trim on a b18b. they take longer to spool. I have a t3/t04e 50 trim with a .48 A/R exhaust side and it spools pretty good. Im in full boost in second gear by 3,700rpm..3rd gear by around 3,400...4th by 3,100.. Although i yeilded about 200whp from 8 psi, my midrange is absolutley sick, and thats because i spool alot quicker then these other boosted hondas with huge *** turbos on their motors. I still dont understand why some people would want a 60 trim with a .63 A/R on the hot side on a small 1.8 litre motor when they only want to boost like 10 psi. someone please elaborate that for me.

It all depends on your goals. If you are into racing lite to lite then a smaller turbo would be good for you. If your goals are to do runs on the highway then a 57trim or bigger would be your best bet. All of these factors come into the equation. I had a t3/t4b on my LS and it was great bc it spooled fast but I wasnt happy with the power I was making. Now, I have a built LS motor with a 57 trim and the top end is insane. I recently bought a b16 head and I think I might have to go bigger. It all depends on what you want the turbo for.

Re: Best turbo for 1/4 times on Ls teg (Mr.DC2TurBo)
for the 280-300WHP goals and street racing/quarter mile racing (20-100mph) is a small turbo necessary? I understand I can't have both fast spool and great power. But which one then, T3 60 trim, 54trim, 57 trim? I just want a little list. It doesn't matter to me what WHP i produce because I just want to have the fastest (20-100mph times) I can on stock motor. No highway or anything like that.

ok.. so are you saying that *IF* i were lets say to get a larger turbo, perhaps a 57 trim with a .63 on the hot side, that i could yeild a higher amount of whp @ 8psi then i would with a smaller turbo @ 8 psi? someone please clarify this for me.. obviosly i know when you get a larger turbo you are sacraficing spool time.. but do you actually gain more power at a desired psi over a larger turbo then a smaller?

Re: Best turbo for 1/4 times on Ls teg (J337_UNIT)
Yes because it's all about CFM...PSI is more of a measure of "how hard the turbo is working" a T3 at 8PSI will flow less air then a massive T91 at 8PSI...so more air flow more horsepower. You could very well run a T3 at like 25 PSI to get the same airflow as a big T4 running at 10 PSI, but then the T3's compressor is very inefficient and the big T4 is better. I've done those calculations and for our 1.8L between a T3 60 trim and a T3/t04e 60 trim is the range. My only question is to narrow that for me and my application.

i put a t3t04e 57 trim on my stock ls and pushing 250whp on a stock block after tuning with uberdata... but yet to find out the 1/4 times... just got done recently... has a good quick spool to it though....

250 is my goal for my stock B18B. What psi did you run to get these results.

Are you running an equal length manifold on just some log type anutha ****? I want to get an equal length to improve spool...but I want to keep my stock radiator too. What did you have to remove to fit yours on?
