Re: best trany for turbo GSR (vtec-h8ter)
There are so many threads on this it is crazy!!!
readers digest version;
Most turbo guys here like the GSR trans because the gears are longer than a b16 or ITR and shorter than a LS. Next factor is the LSD, Just get a Quife (spelling?)

I disagree with the notion that the longer GSR gearing is better for boost. I like my Si tranny ratios for NA or boost just fine. Same car, same HP, but one has a GSR ratio gearbox and the other has ITR/B16, I promise you the shorter ratio car will win.

it might win the short run races but long run gsr will win

Re: best trany for turbo GSR (Mr.DC2TurBo)
how much HP are you putting down? because if you make a **** load of power lke 400-500 then you no longer need the shorter gearing. You can go with either LS or GSR for huge horespower and a shorter one will only have you spin out your wheels. Gearing is based on where you power band is and shorter gears only make up for stock hondas that need to produce power through gearing

that also depends on the powerlevel of the car, 25psi on a decent build , i wouldn't wanna have a b16 tranny on it, gsr would be a better street strip choice, for my street car i'm probably gonna run an LS cause i do some highway driving..

366 wheel HP and even with a larger turbo and more HP, I would keep this gearing. I do tons of highway driving also, the car has over 150k on it. She gets somewhere between 31-36 MPG on 750cc injectors. Fuel mileage was not affected at all with the change from GSR to B16/ITR gearing, it is all in the tune.

im hopin to hit the area of around 400 hp, i dont want the b16 tranny or the itr tranny, do to the fact that the gears arnt long enuff to spool my sc63. or when it does hit full boost, ill be shifting like a ****
It seams thats GSR and the LS are the fav's.
im gonna keep my eye out and keep reading up on them.
any more comments?

Re: (vtec-h8ter)
I'm planning on doing s GSR Turbo and I'm sticking with the GSR trans, mostly because just having a little longer of a tranny is good, and its not too long like the LS. I am also using ths as a daily driver to I kinda need to keep the RPM's low (maybe not need, but want). But i'm sure other people have reasons for their smaller trannies, or maybe its just their preferance *shrug*

gsr tranny..slick size play a big factor in tranny choice..for example a 600 hp car with a ls tranny and 26" slicks will lose a 600hp car with a gsr tranny and 26' slicks...so I like the gsr tranny better or even the b16 with 26"slicks or even 25's..
