Default Best pistons and rods for my LS-T

I'm going to be pulling the pistons out of my B18A1 cuz my turbo fried my rings. I am going to be replacing pistons and possibly the rods too. I just wanna hear some suggestions. I only plan on running 8-10 psi tops and I'm not after huge HP goals. I just want something that will be more reliable than my stock motor was.

I just asked that awhile ago myself and pistons are personal choice basically. Wiseco's would be sufficient for low to mid whp range. I hope you mean more realiable with the turbo setup, because you car is inherently less-reliable (risk wise) now that is it modified.

Not to be rude, but the turbo probably did not fry your rings. The tuning would more likely be the culprit to your ring problems. Pauter or Manley Rods are supposed to be the creme de la creme of rods(for honda anyways)

yea, well I didn't really have it tuned. I was running a FMU because I was only running 4 psi. I'll be the first to admit I beat the **** out of it on a daily basis so it was my own fault.

One more thing... With those Eagle Rods, Does the block have to be notched out for those? I've heard something like this before

What does Eagle rods have to do with notching the block?

I had some dumb **** at our local car show tell me some crap about notching out my block if I was gonna go with the Eagle Rods... I've never dealt with internals before on a honda so I really didn't know.

And where's the cheapest place to find a set of Eagle Rods and JE pistons?

sorry if this is a retarded question but if I pull my pistons out and the sleeves look ok and they're not scratched up I can just go ahead and slide the new pistons right in correct?
It's my first time upgrading pistons. I've swapped pistons before in my Jeep and other lawnmowers and **** but never messed with aftermarket internals.
Thanks guys

no, imo you should go with a .20 over piston and get it bored and honed, if not i have a set of je pistons 81 mm stock bore that you could get away with just honing it 225 shipped

also eagle rods are a good bang for the buck

you could. prob get a 3 stone hone and go at it on the block but its better to overbore it and get a fresh cyl wall so you can have proper piston to wall clearance etcc.

what is the mileage of the stock block?

theroetically you could get away with it as long as there isn't any major/deep scratching, but i would suggest at least a light hone before dropping in new piston rings so that they can seat properly and you can get the cylinder back to round if they are "out of round" at all. just my .02, but a lot of guys would suggest overboring at least 10 over, i guess it depends on how good you are at honing.

also, eagle rods are great rods for the money and i like my wiseco pistons too (free coated skirts are a good insurance)!

What type of pistons would you guys recommend to knock the compression ratio down a lil bit?
And my god when I pulled the oil pan off and turned the crank with a wrench all I heard was pshhhhh comming out of the 2nd cyl. I'm pulling the head off today and hopefully I won't see anything that will make me cry

you live and you learn, sad part about is that about 400 in tuning and your motor would still be running strong, but i always look at things as good, and the good part about this is after you rebuild with custom pistons and rods you will be able to boost so much more and more reliably with tuning
