Just got my MSD 6A Seems to be what the vast majority of the crowd runs with, those there re alternatives like Jacobs ICE pak, Accel and I think another couple.

Re: best kind of ignition upgrade when boosted? (dlplayboy)
thank playboy, now I sound like a fool after tring to sell mine, but I highly recommend buying one that has been remanufactured by MSD, as half of them are returned for repair. I only buy remanned MSD they just have a sticker on the normal box that says remanned and they will never give up. So if you buy new, buy new and remanned.

just keep in mind, with my 97 ex msd does not make a dist cap for my car. so most likely you cant get one for yours. you can buy some kind of kit for 8 bucks to mod yours. i just said screw it and bought the 6a and used my internal coil. it only cost me 135 for the 6a and if i would of keep the external coil and everthing i would of spend well over 200 smackers.
just the 6a made a diffrence in the way my car performed. alot smoother!!!

you you need external coil cap, you do it yourself, and costs change. MSD makes caps for use with external coil.

Re: best kind of ignition upgrade when boosted? (AkumaY)
I reccomend the Crane HI-6TR(timing and rev control), like the MSD 6BTM(boost timing management) but more power. I've heard a lot of good things, and seen it work well on 500whp Integra's, and I plan on using it.

I have heard that there is no point in getting an MSD type setup if you pushing under 300 hp. If your pushing more than that---more power to you, buy one. I dont see a need for one, but I think Im only in the mid 200's.

Re: best kind of ignition upgrade when boosted? (93LSivic)
I agree with 93LSivic. The stock ignition can generate a healty spark up to around 7 or 8lbs of boost.
Not having the specs, MSD's multi-spark stops after a certain rpm and your left with a single spark event similar to stock anyway.
It only takes a finite amount of voltage to jump the spark plug gap, and the stocker is capable of 40k+.
