Re: Best half size aluminum radiator?
Alot of cars have left our shop with the cheaper 'cx racing' ebay aluminum radiators and we have never had a problem. I think the rad it self is 80$ shipped or 120$ shipped with fan and shroud. I really would like to run data logs back to back with an expensive vs 'cheap' rad. Those cx racing radiators 'look' like they are made well with nice tig welds and we have never had any blockage, leaking or cracking issues.
Edit: I'm not calling these the 'best' by any means, I'm just clarifying that we personally haven't had any problems with them. So far I have yet to see any thing so far that caught my attention while tuning cars will them.

Re: Best half size aluminum radiator?
It's funny how the original poster have asked for a quality reliable radiator, and the first reply was about an Ebay China radiator...ROFL
The guy is asking for a nice radiator, probably the best one... Not a radiator that "works". A lot of things work you know, doesn't mean it is the best. A Geo Metro works, why do we have turbo Hondas.
By the way, I have a Fluidyne radiator.. No problems for about 10 years now. I had it since '98.

I caught that after I replied haha
If I were looking to buy one of the 'best'
I would probably purchase a proven brand like Koyo, PWR, or Fluidyne..
I have heard good things about Mishimoto and they seem to be popping up everywhere on various builds.
Search my friend, look at build threads see what people are running.

Intercoolers or radiators? lol... One is bar/plate, one is tube/fin, and I have no idea how you tied both of those things together; not counting the fact that you are also trying to tie brand name radiators with Ebay China radiators, and obviously, fin density is pretty damn obvious between them.
Having great success and having an awesome radiator are totally different things. Radiators efficiency are based on sizing and volume. If you are ever stuck on needing a small yet efficient radiator for your 600+ WHP monster due to space constraints, lack of airflow from huge FMIC's, or endurance type racing, you won't be getting an Ebay one. But Ebay one works though, correct? Yeah, maybe when my mom drives the car.

Re: Best half size aluminum radiator?
ive got a mishimoto. its an ok radiator. I have a feeling it was blocked though, because I woudl get some pretty high coolant hose pressures. I let the car sit for almost half a year and have started driving it again and my problems have disspappeared. Hmmmm.
Also, the cap was leaking, I had to replace it with a different cap. It could all be related to the cap, Im not sure.

My buddy has a CX Racing on his turbo DA, and it has been working since I installed it. Definitely not a bad bang for your buck if you're on a budget.

honestly once you take care of your cooling system, ebay radiators will work very good and last long.

Re: Best half size aluminum radiator?
Koyo does make nice stuff. From my expereince the Koyo is much thicker then the PWR. When you have an AC compatiable manifold and your turbo is on the passanger side you need all the room for an intake/filter you can get.
Anything thicker then a PWR radiator + 4" inlet on turbo on a AC manifold = no room for intake/filter.
