Best fittings to use to weld GT35R coolant fittings to radiator?
I am about to install my GT35r and going to have to attach and weld some fittings onto the top and bottom side of my radiator for coolant. Which fitting do you guys recommend that I have someone weld on there. Going with -6 stainless lines. Just trying to see which is the best way to do this without any leaks and the easiest method. Thanks!
I was thinking having this welded on.

thats going to be your best bet..... what you whould do is weld this one on (well get the alum one that you can weld on) and then after it is welded take a drill bit and drill the hole in the side of the radiator then flush all the shavings out

Buy the weld on bungs, they're not anodized and ready to weld on. You have to grind the anodizing off those regular ones.

Is that going to flow enough water for the turbo? I would think that you need your source to be somewhere after the water pump and your return to be somewhere before the water pump so it flows enough water. The water is just going to take the path of least resistance in this case. i dont know how much resistance there is in your radiator but dont think a whole lot of water will end up passing into the turbo. Also the water going to your turbo is the hot water that just came from your engine and is then bypassing the radiator and going into your turbo and then back to the engine and doesnt have anywhere to cool. These are just a couple of my thoughts so just think about it and i could be way off base here.

Agreed. The adonization is kinda impregnated in the aluminum so even after you grind it off the welds still turn out crappy.

b18bekcoupe is right. How about just running the coolant lines to your throttle body?

right, why spend all that effort on something when it would be better to just run the lines ot the throttlebody.

Well the coolant should be cooled coolant since the bottom radiator end tank is the one feeding the turbo. I know a couple people on here have done it and have not posted any problems.
Feel free to post some other ways to doing it, but show some pics or something.
The member D@nnY has done it the way I have, but if I remember right he has it drain back to the fitting on the intake manifold.

Use the bottom of the rad as a feed but run the return to back to the motor. Thats what I did Your going to have the same pressure at the bottom and top of the rad so it will not flow as much if you do it your way.

The oil sandwich plate ? How did you get coolant to come out of the block ?

No, the oil to water cooler located on the back of ITR and some GSR block's (cant remember the exact years).

Re: Best fittings to use to weld GT35R coolant fittings to radiator? (Tony the Tiger)
Stan hooked me up with all the fittings today. I am going to weld a bung on the bottom of the radiator endtank for my feed and drain back to the lil housing on the side of the head that the upper radiator hose connects to.
Thank you Stan!
