Default Best exhaust for turbo?

My wife and I are currently looking for a descent exhaust to add to our 93 si. We are going to eventually put a drag turbo onto it. We are trying to build the car up so that we won't have to change parts more than we have to. If anyone has some 2 cents about what exhaust is good for a medium to small turbo please let me know. Also, I was wondering if anyone knows of any places on the net that has sound clips of exhaust sounds. I'm not all for the whole "oohh look at me, I sound fast but I'm really not" kind of sound. Thanks for everyones help.

For a low boost street application, you can use any 60mm exhaust system. There are countless 60mm systems out there. If you need more flow, you can opt for the Thermal 80mm or 3.0" exhaust system.

I say wait until you add the turbo kit, Exhuast isnt going to do much on a na car IMO, not worth the $ spent, but i think you should wait until Turbo is on and make a better decision. Just be patient dont spend $500 on an exhuast that may not do you any good once turbo. SPenf the $500 toward the turob now .

I would say the thermal is way too loud for daily driving, it gets quite annoying afterawhile.

3.0" = 76.2mm

80mm = 3.15"

There is a little known fact about the thermal though..> I have spoken with the reps from Thermal before, and they informed me that if you have a problem with the 3" being too loud, then you are a wimp! Just kidding... You can contact them, mail them your rear section, and they have a specified size washer so to speak that they weld on the inside of the muffler, and it changes the noise & tone of the muffler quieting it by more than 7dB if i recall correctly, and all you have to pay for is the shipping... And it is not enough of a difference in restriction to reduce any horsepower, unless you are running 400+hp... and if your lookin for 400+hp with a quiet exhaust, well....

We absolutely can. Are you willing to wait 6-8 weeks?

Wouldn't mind at all. I guess now would be a good time to start doing some research and figure out what i want.

I have the Tanabe Hyper Medallion on my DA and it's very quiet and throaty. I believe it's 60mm (2.36 inches).

right now im a big fan of the E-Cutout its on my car and i LOVE IT. quiet w hen i want to be and LOUD when i want to. its kinda fun messing with people going * vroom vrooM* through my stock exhaust and then open it up and let them hear my turbo whine. also since you're talkin bout you and your wife. maybe there will be soem kids later, so i think this is a great idea, cuz it can be quiet for the family drives and when daddy wants to go out to have soem fun he can open it up .

Just what i was gonna reply with, cutouts are great if you prefer a quiet exhaust but want performance when you need it. I just got a McCord e-cutout. My main gripe is the rocker switch looks kinda cheap.

Well if you want quiet and performance sell your soul. Best bet is an e-cutout. Quiet for the po-po's and the performance to give you neck problems.

I like the thermal 3". Nice and deep and I really don't think it is too loud.

No exhaust owns. 3" out of turbo to 3" dynomax race bullet with a flex pipe dumping through front bumper = win.

Spend $120 on a 2.5" exhaust (yep, press bent tubes ARE NOT the anti-christ), and another $70 for a dynomax ultra-flow muffler. Then use the $250+ you just saved from not buying a name brand exhaust complete with rolled tip (yO), and run away for the weekend.

edit: turbo + dynomax ultra flow will be very tolerable soundwise for daily driving. The combo sounds similar, but a bit quieter than many aftermarket exhausts with resonators on normally aspirated cars IMO.

Wow! I didn't expect such a huge response. I just wanted to start out by telling everyone thanks for all the help. It sounds like there is quite a majority of you that's giving the same advice. I'll order it here in a little while and let everyone know how it goes. Thanks again for everyone's help.
