Best D Series Transmission for FI and Drag Racing
I've searched, but to no avail. I've heard lots of input on which B series tranny is the best, but what I want to know is which of the D trannies is best suited for a turbo D on the track. Z6, Y8 maybe?
This would be for a car running 22" slicks.

What's the difference between the Y8 and the Z6 other than the Y8's are bound to have a lot less miles on them?

Yeah, I need a hydro tranny.
So are the gear ratios the same in the Y8 and Z6?
Also, I just picked up a spare Z6 tranny sinse I'm starting to get some pretty bad 3rd gear grinding. Can I retrofit the steel shifter forks if I can find some? I'm thinking I'm just gong to do a rebuild before I throw this one in.

Y8 forks will not fit in the Z6 tranny.

Quick question, how would you know when the shifter forks in your Z6 tranny are going bad or failing?
