Default Best D-series tranny?

Just wondering, what is the best d-series tranny for boost? I'm buying a del Sol which already has a DX tranny in it, and I'm going to put in a Z6 and boost. Just wondering. Thanks!

I was actually told the DX tranny. :\

Well if that is NOT the case, is it still fine? Don't have money to waste on another tranny. Maybe next summer or something.

DX tranny sucks. Gears are way to long.

What are the Z6 tranny's shift forks made out of? They still have to be steel where they interact with the synchro sleeves. Is the part that's made out of aluminum even an issue?

Actually I think the Z6's might be cast iron, but I could be wrong on that.

*** Z6 tranny's. I missed a gear street racing and blew the tranny to **** when the shift fork broke. The tow home was fuking spendy. I have a Y8 tranny with a Quaife LSD now and it works great, but I would really love ZC 3rd and 4th gears to make mine shorter. I still think the Y8 tranny is too long, but without building a custom tranny with other gears and what not, that's the best your going to get.

I'm pretty sure you can't do that. Found this thread and it has a few links in it...

Yeah it doesnt work like that. Cant do it. The y7/y8+ forks have three rods, where the z6 have two. Just doesnt work.

The y8 are steel, the z6 is aluminum.

Z6 (broken) shift forks

the y8 and the z6 si are just about identical with the exception of the first gear . ive had all 3 , started with a z6 , blew it , put a y7 in it , blew it and y8 a y8 in it . id recomend a y8 , and if your running some power , to reinforce that shift fork with tome braces.
