Re: Best clutch for Daily Driving........... (Mugencrxsir1)
my buddy had his action f ucking EVAPORATE on him at th track. freshly broken in (correctly) with his beson sleeved b16 and 16 psi or boost. the pucks just gave up and came off in pieces. BUT action gave him a good deal on a new one and he'll be putting it in soon so the car can come out in the spring. i think hes an idiot for using it again, but its his car

Re: Best clutch for Daily Driving........... (I Have an STD)
I had an Action 2md for 30k miles and the splines inside the clutch disc where it goes onto the mainshaft completely stripped. I tried contacting them with no response. I ended up going with another 2ms as i figured it was a freak incident but ive been seeing more and more problems with these. I probably wont get another one next time around.

i run the act xtss... its ok... has never slipped yet... and i have run as much as 20psi before. its engages very fast and is a pain in the *** if you get caught in stop/go traffic... but i cant complain... its good...

Re: Best clutch for Daily Driving........... (Mugencrxsir1)
I have an action 2ms. It feels great. Not as hard as expected, plus the engagement is nice and smooth! It does fine in daily driving/traffic. Plus the guys at action provide good advice. Call them up!
Good luck with whatever you choose.

ive had the ACT HDSS, XTR6, and XTSS, and id pick the XTSS for a daily driver. holds real good and isnt too bad for daily driving, very little if no clutch chatter too. the six puck was pretty bad rolling out of first and it shook the **** out of the whole car.

I was debating getting the ACT XXTR6 vs. Action 2ms, I love ACT nothing but great things from them. But I've heard their 6puck clutch is a little harsh for street driving, and Action has a nice engagement. Someone help out </TD></TR></TABLE>
You might want to check out this thread before buying from Action:

I think ACT makes great clutches. I had an XTSS, then bought a six puck sprung disc from another company, but still use the same XT pressure plate. The only reason I did this is because ACT didn't offer sprung 6 puck discs for my car. The organic disc was still good, but I didn't want to take a chance of it slipping on the dyno, even though it probably could've handled the power. The pedal effort is stiff, but 90% of the time it doesn't bother me. If you're stuck in bumper to bumper traffic it can be a real workout! By the way, any 4 puck or 6 puck will have harsh engagement, but you get used to it.

Re: Best clutch for Daily Driving........... (USE2B16A)
Thanks for the replys guys, looks like I'm going to stick with ACT, and get the XXTR6. I will just have to suck it up for driving in traffic every once and a while. It's not a daily driver, but it will be out in traffic every weekend. I am even thinking of the XTSS, but I don't want to buy a clutch and have the disc start slipping if I decide to up the boost in a couple of months. So I'm stuck between the XXTR6 vs. XTSS.

By the way, the engine is not quite done yet, but I plan for 350-400hp at around 15psi. So I'm worried about the XTSS disc holding, but I know the XTR6 will hold. I want the smoothness of the SS disc, but the strength of the 6puck. I guess I will have to just get us to the 6 puck.

the poster of that thread likes ACTION and plans to buy another one as it says in the thread.
I like the clutch... just like any product, your going to have failures. overall I think Action is great for the money.
for the poster... dude your not ever going to get a strait answer because your asking a question that will only result in opinions... which of course vary.
people who previously only used stock clutch may think unsprung 6 puck is too harsh, people with experience in race clutches may not think its harsh... like other people said you get use to it. if not, then get some more exercise!!

A friend of mine used an ACT clutch in his civic and I hated it, ya had to slam it all the way down to the floor to shift.
I personally use Competition Clutch, Clutch pedal feels like stock but grabs like hell.

If you have any questions regarding ACT or clutches in general let me know. I would be glad to help. There is a lot of mis-information out there.

If it was through a thread I may have forgotten to select the box to receive an email of any replies. I don't get much time on HT so typically I won't see it unless I am notified by email. In any case it's my fault and I apologize.
