Wondering what the best camshaft setup would be for my boosted JDM B16A? I've heard a skunk2 Stage II may be too aggressive. What do you guys think? Ill be getting valve springs/retainers as well.

What Turbocharger size? lbs/min? Power level desired? stock engine? Please tell us more about the setup. No need for Skunk2 Tuner or Pro2 for either way.

Hoping for 250 WHP +. I haven't installed the turbo yet, but it will be a T04E. collecting parts over winter for spring. Stock internals. Thought a good cam setup would squeeze some extra gains out of it.

For 250 almost any cam swap is pointless, unless you have a set of CTR or gsr cams laying around... but I wouldn't go out of my wat to get a pair

I've seen people make huge amounts of power on stock cams, 800 on gsrs iirc

You don't need springs and retainers at this point either.

i always hear about people using type R cams and gsr cams, why woulkd you replace your factory cam with another factory cam the is based on a N/A deign. just my .02 just sounds silly to me cause the over lasp isnt going to be right for boost.

It goes in this order for cams

B16 < gsr< ctr/it

Gsr cams have a little more lift and duration than b16s.
All ctr cams are is a gsr cam with more duration

Stick a set of gsrs in it and call it a day, I've seen people make 800 horsepower on stock gsr cams.

Unfortunately too many people seem to be stuck on the mindset that a high number in hp will result in a faster car. It's not always the case, should I swap cams I'll be most likely going for something giving more in the low to mid rpm range and not just a big number for bragging rights.

Wrong, a bunch of na cams are great for boost, like jun3s, bloc type c, etc.

A gsr cam is a good upgrade for a boosted motor, the added lift and extra duration mean more time for cylinder filling, that's a good thing whether all motor or forced induction

Why don't you research, learn, know your place and stop spouting off crap

You obviously are new. You obviously have a long road of researching and reading ahead of you.

You're coming off like you've read alot of "mis" information along the way, or have alot of people at a "car meet" that think they know what you're talking about.

Overlap is not bad for a turbo motor, infact, its actually quiet good, when everything works together. Also, there's a ton more of information on the subject, i honestly dont feel like spoon feeding on the internet. I profile alot of cams for alot of turbo guys, i can tell you at 45PSI, overlap is loved by the turbo guys.

I expect the next thing for you to say, is that a 3'' exhaust is entirely too big for a 4 cyl.. or back pressure, is good.

the b16 cams really do suck pretty bad though. if it were me (who currently runs itr cams in his turbo motor) in your situation, id keep an eye on craigslist for a set of gsr cams. every so often they pop up for 50-80 dollars and i feel are a good cheap upgrade to a stock b16 on boost

listen ******* any cam that is bigger than the one you have is gonna make more power im talking about using the correct cam. so one more time ur replacing your N/A cam with another N/A cam. why dont you have a cam company build you the exact same cam specs as the type R but build it on a turbo plat form and then come talk to me. oh and new, no i race real cars with 8 cylinders and go fast notice the name x275 yeah real car, real motor, real suspension.i come on here to make fun of *** bags like ur self.

to the guy who started this thread didnt mean to ruin your thread. pick what ever cam you want but listen to someone who has gone fast ,buy a cam designed for a turbo get some sort of stage one setup and youll be fine.
