Bent Compressor Fin
ok, ive searched but cant find anything.
the tip of one of the fins on the compressor wheel of my T3/T4 is slightly bent its about 5mm of the tip of the fin and is bent about 40 degrees out (towards the inlet) its hard to see in the pics, but they might help. http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg im wondering if it will affect its performance much, should i try bending it back with some pliers? should i just leave it? or should i replace the wheel? the latter would be very unwanted since i would like to get this thing in withing the next week or so. thanks for any help! |
my friend actually had one that ate a FEW rocks.. and it had some fucked up fins.. he dynoed at 278 with the bent fins( and chewed up) and we replaced the wheel and he dynoed at 285.. and i mean it was fucked up.. so i dont think that the bent fin you have their is going to affect much ( i mean high hp aplications would probably make a HUGE differance) just use it! and of course have fun with it!

Re: (Blind Fashion)
Maybe you can take the comp housing off and try to bend the fin back a little.

Re: (Vtaaak y0)
yeah Vtaaak, i was thinking about that (its why i asked if i should bend it back) the only thing im worried about is if the metal got deformed at all or anything, if i bend it back it might scrape the housing... and i wouldent want that! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: Bent Compressor Fin (StrangerWitCandy)
that probably is effecting it quite a bit

exactly what i was thinking, remember the wheel spins at like 1,000,000,000,000 rpm's https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif Landon |
Re: Bent Compressor Fin (boosted_dc2)
my perfectly fine SC61 took chumped out at 22psi, Im assuming because I maxed out the efficiency of it somehow. so ya, 150k RPM is a good starting point for these things...hehe

Re: Bent Compressor Fin (Tinker219)
so what do you think i should do? try to bend it back?

Re: Bent Compressor Fin (StrangerWitCandy)
I'm hesitant to bend on it any more, because I have no real experience withthe metallurgy of a compressor wheel.
If it were me, I'd toss a coin to decide if I was going to run it as is, or have it rebalanced as is and then run it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif |
