Default Benson Sleeved block leaking water

Hi there,
We have a Benson Sleeved B16 block 85mm open deck style. And the block is leaking water in the cumbustion chamber so its smoking white.
We have changed the head gasket from a Cometic into a Honda OEM, as well as we machined the head surface but once again it's leaking. Head is oki. Everything is double checked and oki.

Before we installed the bottom end together we machined the block surface as we allways do on blocks we get.
But we have heard that you are not suppost to machine these blocks, cuz the sleeves must be 0,1mm above the surface on the side of the block? Is this right?

I´m not exactly sure how the Bensons blocks are build but on the ERLPerformance blocks you need!!! this little step. That´s called the step deck. The sleeves will sink a little when you intall the head and through the step deck you make sure them not to leak. Machining the block to be flat seemed to be a very bad idea.

yeah, sleeves should be about 3 thousandths above the outer deck. its not required though.

Is it anyway to fix this? O rings ? Maybe machine down the surface around the block.

Is this the same with sleeved blocks from Golden Eagle, we have dpne the same with one of the blocks from them but that one didn't have this "step deck". We havn't run that car yett.
In that case this is really stupid, cuz they should have written a warning text together with the papers.

When mine was sleeved (H22 closed deck) the block was surfaced afterwards and the head was done also. No probs. running @16 lbs.

The block should seal fine as a flat deck but it must be a very smooth finish. Does the block have the Benson logo CnC'd into it or is it an earlier block? You should never surface a block unless it needs it, however.
