Default benefits of different size wastegates?

So what are the advantages / disadvantages of a 35 mm, 38mm, and 40 mm wastegate. I need to buy one for my turbo setup and i was wondering how i can determine which one would be right or does it even matter. Thanks in advance

Believe the bigger te size the more it will flow. Theory is that if your going to run with low boost a lot of the time and need to bleed of a lot of exhaust then you will want to run a bigger gate. But if your running higher boost and wont be beeding off a lot of exhaust then you can get away with a smaller gate.

Im assuming your talking about a Tial gate. The 35mm is not made anymore and was replaced with the 38mm.

The size in mm is the size of the WG orifice that leads out to your dumptube. I measured my 38mm WG and the one that goes to the manifold is 1.75" and the one leading to the dumptube is 1.5 which is 38mm (actually, 38mm = 1.49", but close neough).

The smaller WG will spike/creep more then the larger WG when you are running higher boost/power. It's the same concept as porting out or enlarging an internal WG to allow more exhaust gas to pass through so that it wont creep.

38mm will most for most applications, but for really high HP then the 40mm is probably better. I can remember the downside of running a large WG like 40mm and low boost/power. One of them might be space under the hood, but other then that I'm not sure what else is affected.
