bead roller?

where can i find a cheap bead roller to do the beads on my intercooler piping? Or, is the easiest way to just have it welded on there?

Re: bead roller? (Superorb)

my bead roller was expensive and its a peice of crap...what material are you pipes?

Superorb Feb 20, 2006 01:51 PM

I should be using aluminum. I did some aluminized steel already with a flux core mig and it came out like crap, heavy and bulky. I'm going to get some mandrel bends, test fit it all and have them welded by a shop.

Superorb Feb 20, 2006 02:18 PM

where can I get some aluminum mandrel bent intercooler piping that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I figure 2.5" cold and 2.25" hot side piping for my f22 motor.

You didn't bead roll mine. Even the manifold turned out F...d up that you guys made that I informed you about almost a year ago and called you five weeks in a row and you still refuse to correct the problem. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

Superorb Feb 20, 2006 04:16 PM

lr mr. gloater... where'd you get that and what's it for? you guys and your civics/tegs can find premade piping. it's the accord guys that suffer https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Re: (Superorb)

If you want a quick fix I just put a ring of JB weld on the end of the pipes https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif .

Superorb Feb 20, 2006 06:16 PM

i don't want a quick fix.. i want it done right the 1st time.

Weq Feb 20, 2006 06:27 PM

Re: (Superorb)

its not pre-made. its all custom work/bent done by guys here in australia. im 90% sure they supply fullrace with there alluminium products also. Those beads were done on a pretty expensive roller though. Like the others have mentioned, they arnt cheap to buy for a once off thing.

Superorb Feb 20, 2006 06:34 PM

ok, so am i looking at getting a bunch of 90 bends or u bends and cutting them myself? that's not a problem, i dont mind doing labor. i swapped my other car from an auto to a 5sp. what would be the best way to cut angles in the aluminum piping? a hacksaw just isn't any good for that, i need a nice clean cut so it's not difficult to line up.

I made a bead "roller" out of a set of vicegrips.I ground back the top jaw leaving a rib, and ground a slot in the bottom jaw.Took a little tweeking but it works very good now.I just crimp the bead around the end of the tubing.
