you really would see nice gains from increased timing potential by using better fuel than 87 octane. almost seems counter productive to add more mods on a fuel like that

we had issues with boost not goin over 4lbs.as u can see the first dyno pull was only 178hp.he was running 2.5inch down pipe adapter to 3inch with a cat and 3inch the whole way and the cat was clogged.so the objective for the night was to get the car boosting more.

trouble shooting the car took hours to figure then we said hell with it and cut the piping before cat and it was the problem.clog cat.

ABSOLUTELY..Too much knock from that 87 water. There's a reason why even Factory turbo cars DON'T RUN ON 87 OCTANE....

Start learning about meth-water injection, and try it again with 91 Octane next time.. good luck.

It doesn't have to be race gas. Just something with better knock-resistant properties like 93 octane, a competent system, and a good tuner, and you're fine. race gas isn't just the answer; its part of an answer.

LMFAO blew a sleeve at only 255whp on a stock B18B. It can handle a bit more than that. Should have disconnected the fuel line and let the fuel pump remove the 87 crap gas and put it in someone elses car, then filled it up with the highest octane you car readily get that the pumps. Here is Arizona we used to have 92 octane but that was 10 years ago, for some reason all gas stations switch to 91 so that is the best we can get. Some sell E85 and 1 or 2 sell 100 octane. My stock B18B1 Ls Vtec NA is tuned on 91 octane.

Im still iffy about 91 octane... I wouldnt even drive a turbo car with 87. If all you got is 91 octane, I would just throw in a few gallons of c16 when you are gonna beat on the car. You dont neccesarily have to run it all the time. Tune it with 91 on a dyno though. Not everyone has access to E85

Good luck with the new build and post some pics when you get a chance
