i bought a 366 off of a buddy of mine. he bought it like at the begginning of 2008 and it sat unused until a couple of months ago. it leaks like a **** and smokes like a steam engine. what could have caused this??? from sitting too long?

Check to see if the oil return is clear and flows freely. I know this may sound stupid... but tell him to remove the return line from the turbo and check to see if he pulled out that little plug that blocks the oil passages (comes on new turbos) I've seen a couple of people accidently leave those on.

Check return lines (making sure it is properly routed and gravity fed to the oil pan with no 90 degree fittings, oil pressure, and the feed line you're using. "blown seals" is not always the result of symptoms of oil smoke. Sitting "too long" does not cause these issues.

my s362 has been sitting for like two months brand new in the box and it has oil on the exhaust fin nut. I hope it is from when they were assembling the turbo from factory, it also has noticeable side shaft, but I heard it was normal because of the big shaft.

Glad to see you got it fixed, I have a s366 and you'l love that turbo, its a bad unit! They sound wicked and create absolute stupid power. I'm so happy with mine I'm buying another bigger borg warner here soon for another car of mine.

Just curious, what size feed and drain do you have on it?

KTE324 - My borg had oil here and there when I got it as well.

Well I am glad I am not the only one.

What oil feed and drain line should I run?

"leaking" from where? -12AN is rather large for the return. Most S366 Honda guys use -10AN for the return. Your feed is fine. Is the turbine housing wet? Or are these the same symptoms from your original part of the thread?

im sorry it is a -10 drain. and yes it is wet in the compressor housing. like it almost puddles up at the bottom. i guess ill just have to bite the bullet and send it away for this winter's rebuild.

Send that to Bullseye Power. It may not be covered under warranty because you are a subsequent owner, but they will diagnose it and take care of it.

I'm curious about the significance of this comment and implication?

I talked to them about sending mine back to them for them to check it out since it under warranty and they said I had to pay.

You all have to understand. A good turbo doesn't just "fail" for no reason. A lot of of turbochargers are setup incorrectly. Meaning wrong feed line, wrong return line, return line routed wrong, etc. That and/or the motor doesn't have enough oil pressure or in some cases has too much oil pressure

I had a turbo that failed and sent it to bullseye and they fixed it for free under warrenty with no hassle.

I am now running a different bullseye turbo (S258), 2 seasons and its been an amazing unit. -10 drain, -4 fed from the oil filter housing.. and my dsm makes more oil pressure than most honda's and I have no problems with it.

I did read on full races website that if using -4 you should use a restrictor like gt turbo's, or -3 with no restrictor for the feed?

I do a a -3 I could use instead of the -4 but its been fine, I have will be using a S366 next year on the built motor, I can't wait.. they say that thing is rated up to 750hp.

Full-Race isn't saying WHAT SIZE restrictor, and they don't sell S366. Call Bullseye Power, send it to them. Again, no guarantee that you get warranty, but ask. I was able to work on behalf of HamiltonRex because he was sold the original turbocharger.

HamiltonRex: the OP is a SUBSEQUENT owner, not the original like you were. It will not likely be "free".

Might want to try a 3an feed line first..

Mine didn't like the 4an feed, oil puddled in the comp inlet. Switched to a 3an and not a problem since.

The BW lineup of turbo's need a -4AN feed. Period. You will have oil starvation issues with -3AN

I was told this time and time again, till the borg rep slipped up and told me than many of his customers run 3an feeds with success, for many reasons and some to compensate for drain back problems.

I have a perfect 10an return that has been remade 4 different times trying to fix this issue, a 4an feed line was simply too much no matter what I did with the 10an drain.

I installed a 3an feed line and the problem instantly went away. Now it has 4k hard miles on it and sees 26psi every weekend. Not a drop of oil in the turbo's inlet.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you Tepid, I would have liked to use my expensive black 4an feed but I just couldn't figure out how to get it to work and tried almost everything short of a 12an drain.
