Default B18c1, Full-Race kit, I have a question.

I am about to put a gsr motor into my ek hatch. i have a full race stage 3 kit. my question is can i use 440cc inj without a vtec controller. the motor has je 9:1 pistons and a skunk2 manifold. as for fuel i am using a walboro 255 lph and a vortech 12:1 fmu. i dont want to use my stock inj and i have some rc 440s. can i use them with this setup without buying a vtec controller? thanks in advance

To answer your question...NO you cannot. The car will NOT run right at all. I have DSM 45Occ's in my setup and even with an A'Pexi SAFC ....it was a struggle to drive it 1 1/2hrs to my tuner shop for the HONDATA installation and tuning/dyno. I suggest you hook up an engine management and then install the larger injectors. Don't waste your money on a "VTEC controller". That money is almost enough for you the get a good e-management (HONDATA).

he is correct, unfortunately there is no real way to run that setup and make it work. We strongly recommend that you upgrade to a hondata system, use a stock honda FPR (not the 12:1 FMU) and a set of 72lb or 96 lb injectors

Depending on your location, you could tune the car usng NepTune, the most advanced honda management around...

Oh yeah...almost forgot. Get rid of that Vortech FMU and get yourself a real adjustable fuel pressure regulator that works perfect with forced induction setups --> Aeromotive part#AEI-13101. This unit cost less than the Vortech ($135.95 from Summit Racing.com).

well see here is the thing. i have a built b20 block(sleeved, pistons. rods, bearings etc...) and a gsr head with type-r cams. i am still waiting to save enough money to build the head, since i got jacked on it, and buy a hondata system. since some ****** in san diego scammed me i dont have enough money to finish it right now. so instead of waiting i am just going to use this gsr motor for the time being untill i get the rest of the stuff i need. the problem is i only have a little bit of money right now so i am trying to work with what i have. i dont really want to spend any money on this set-up or use stock injectors so what would you suggest i do.

ps if someone has any valvetrain parts for a good price or a hondata s200b for a good price then help me out!! haha i really want to sell this gsr head and buy a bulit b16 head because that is the head that i have a mani for. anyway thanks for you help again

Wait a little longer (I know I know) and go with a Hondata or even Uberdata setup. Last weekend a guy I know here waited to get his Uberdata in and ... Well, the Golden Eagle sleeves were ok (need to be bored now), the rods should be ok but the pistons were toast. All due to wanting to run with the FMU and not waiting to tune.

well the gsr motor is stock except for pistons and i think that it will be fine with just a few fuel upgrades. as far as my b20/vtec motor, i wouldnt even think of putting it in without all the necessary fuel components. i am just trying to figure out what the best options are with what i am working with

Who's forcing you to install the turbo now?

I'm at a loss why people spend all that money and then get to the end and half-*** the tuning.

If your a cheap bastard you can get the vortech w/ large injectors to work. I run a chill factory regulator with 42# injectors (from a ford lighting). The idle pressure is about 18psi and the disk is around 5:1. Air fuel is in the 11 range and the car idles/drives fine. This is a neon of course.... can't tell ya if a honda would run the same.

I believe a hondata or similar would be better but if your resourceful you can probably get the regulator to work.

no one is forcing me to do ****. i am just trying to use parts that i have to put something together. nobody said i was going to skimp on the tuning. when everything goes in it will be tuned so dont worry about that. i am just trying to see what i can do with what i have for the time being. i need a car to drive and i have 2 motors i can put in it. i will use the gsr motor to get me through the winter untill i can get the rest of the stuff i need to finish my main build. i didnt spend all that money on my b20/vtec motor to screw it up by not getting it tuned or not having the right stuff. i just want to get this gsr up and running so i can have a car to drive. thanks

I had 370CC's on my car and some thieves decided to steal my S-AFC. The car would start but it would idle like ****. With 440CC's, I'm sure it'll idle even more shittier without any S-AFC
