i've used oem bored out by rsmachines.com on two seperate occasions. One on a sleeved 84.5mm gsr motor, and on a o-ring and sleeved 84mm gsr motor. Both turned out great. I think it was about 60-65 dollars for the service. Stock gaskets are slightly larger than oem bore too, but i think for 83mm and bigger you need to either get a oversized aftermarket one or bore out a oem one.

I run whatever my engine builder tells me to run. In my last motor I ran a HP style Cometic head gasket, and in the most recent I'm running the standard Cometic head gasket...

Sometimes it depends on the clearance as well. That's why some people run cometic because it has to be a certain thickness.

my engine builder uses cometic and that's what he was gonna use on mine. I always like oem stuff so I wanted him to run oem with modifications. I've seen that cometic gasket doesnt seem to be the same material as oem.

I forgot to mention I use copper spray as well. Not sure if that was recommended to you, but alot of engine builders recommend it as well.

I was looking at the stock gasket, how do they bore them cause I looked at oem gasket and it has raised edge. How do u raise it again after you bore it.

You can't raise it after you bore it. I think GE uses laser or water jet cutter. It seems to be much more accurate than to just bore the gasket like RS does.
If you need a thicker gasket, your only choice seems to be Cometic. I have never had a Cometic fail on me.

Thanks earl, I didnt know how they raised the edges
My block is gonna be o-ringed so I guess I shouldnt worry about cometic headgasket.

i don't think you can use an oem gasket due to the o-rings, you would need the regular mls gasket from cometic
