B18C Type R turbo advice.
Hello guys, I live in AZ and own a 97 civic 2dr ej8 with a 96 spec B18c Type R full swap. I've been saving money to make it turbocharged. Just wanting to get feedback from someone who has done this before on a stock type r. I know the compression is high 11:1 and would like to daily it on 6-10psi. Any helpful tips and advice would be awesome, as far as brands, size of injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, etc. FYI Im not a tuner nor a Engine builder but Im mechanically inclined to do most of the mock up myself. thanks in advanced.

Start off by reading the FAQ sticky. All of your basic questions are answered there. Also, get the notion that PSI matters out of your head. It doesn't. 10 PSI from a GT06 would be hilarious for the rest of us to watch, but you'd get more power out of a hair dryer attached to your intake. 10 PSI out of a GT6041 would also be hilarious for the rest of us to watch, but I don't think you'd enjoy turning your motor into scrap metal.

I had my 96 spec B18CR boosted making 300whp for a while before the ring lands gave it up. Get a good ram horn or mini ram manifold. I had reversion issues with a tubular log with the Type R cams.

@Dark Teg what cams did you eventually go with and when you say awhile approx how long did it last considering a good conservative dyno tune.

I had mine tuned on 91 octane and it lasted a little over a year before a clogged/poorly flowing injector done it in. I am still on the R cams with my new build.

i hadnt bothered posting the first time id noticed this thread, but ill chime in for the ***** & giggles factor..
on my prior usdm R motor, using the cometic headgasket to lower the compression, i was making ~ 310 @ 7 psi, ~350 @ 11 psi. in hindsight, not a big fan of the thicker headgasket set-up, because youre treating headgaskets as routine maintenance. was tuned on s200b by shad sawyer back in 04 or 05 on 93 octane with a gallon of cam 2 (110 octane) per full tank.

OP, something around 10psi and 300whp seems to be the limit of reliability on pump gas with an itr.
I haven't dyno'd my itr, but others with a similar setup made around the above numbers.
Ymmv.
My build is in the archives somewhere.

Re: B18C Type R turbo advice.
I had a stock bottom end Itr turbo it was a Us Itr so a couple points lower compression but I ran 1 bar of boost and it did fine with a ram horn Itr cam made like 400 whp.
Just my. .02 but don't be afraid to turbo it just get a good tune and don't run it to hard with out cool down period, from what i know the cast Pistons will over heat and crack.
