Default B18C: eBay 50 Trim - Pump Gas Dyno Tune

This car belongs to Shane from Woodruff. He attended our Dyno Night, and after making a base pull, he decided that the street tune from the previous owner was not up to par.

Here is the setup:

B18c
9:1 CP Pistons
Eagle Rods
ARP Head Studs
Stock Head
Stock Cams
Skunk2 intake Manifold
70mm Throttle Body
Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket
MSD Ignition
Ramhorn Turbo Manifold
50 trim from The People's Republic of China (a.k.a eBay) Turbo
Walbro 255lph Pump
780cc Injectors
Adjustable FPR (base pressure @ 55 psi)
4bar MAP Sensor
Tial 38mm wastegate
93 Octane
Tuned on Crome Gold with boost by gear

This is the base pull (street tune on eCtune) vs the 14.5-15.5 PSI tune on Crome Gold. For the record, we don't feel that tuning software plays a part in the final result, but what you see here is the difference in a street tune, and a more comprehensive dyno tune.

The chart below reflects the a/f ratios from the base pull. Regarding the areas where the ratios drop flat to a 10, what's actually happening is that the motor is running so rich that the wideband can't even register.

LOL^

For the record, owner stated the gauge registered 18-20psi on the street tune and that he would hit boost cut on 4th gear. Being that we were on the 80% duty cycle range while tuning at 15.5psi, I too can see that the boost gauge wouldn't read accurately because there is no way that there was enough duty cycle on the injectors to support another 5psi. Logically, it makes perfect sense that the gauge wasn't reading accurately. For those who don't know, Crome Gold can't datalog an eCtune file and the reverse is also true.

I didn't measure but it looked like a 2.5 or 3" exhaust and it was exiting by the driver side, in front of the tire.

I'll make sure to pass the thoughts onto the owner. By the way, I love your a.k.a.... "OBD1Kenobi".... That's epic as hell.

Yes, it's worked every single time for us. It was under A11 on eCtune. We switched it to the a/c pin #A12 since his a/c doesn't work and A11 is not one of the 4 or 5 options in Crome Gold.

Customer was using the Hondata/Mac solenoid. Leave the operating frequenze at 31hz and check the invert input box.

Was the only tuning done to fuel or was timing massaged too?

I couldn't tell you what ignition values he was running on eCtune since I can't datalog an eCtune file with Crome Gold. However, I presume it was on the conservative side since there was no knocking present in the dyno charts. That and we picked up more power on the low end as well where boost is not yet present. Most street tunes we've seen usually and understandably have conservative values. And yes, sometimes there is such thing as not enough timing for those who are not aware. In case you are wondering we can turn down the smoothing on the chart and this usually will show us knocking, spark blow out, or even a bad suspension component if it's bad enough.
