B18c block with b16 crank.Rod/stroke setup question.
Hello guys.I have a b16a2 ready to buy forged parts for turbo setup.
Since my block is so-so(due to burned head gasket) im thinking of a
long rod b16 crank in b18c block setup cause i love high rod/stroke ratios.
Eagle sells at the same price:
5.430(137.9mm) oem length
5.531(140,48mm)
5.862(148,9mm)
5.967(151,5mm)
Using http://www.zealautowerks.com/bseries.html i aquired this results
(b18c block,b16a head,b16a crankshaft)
a)5.531(140,48mm) rod with PR3 piston : 1.81 rod/stroke 8,04:1 c.r.
b)5.862(148,9mm) rod with -4 dome cc/25mm compression height piston : 1.92 rod/stoke 9.5:1 c.r.
c)5.967(151,5mm) rod with -4 dome cc /21mm compression height piston 1.96 (!!!) rod/stroke 8.35:1 c.r.
My target is a weekend driven car that will rev around 9200-9500rpm
and will probabaly will not see above 550 whp.I will try to use the smallest compressor wheel size possible for good wide powerband.
Now what id like to ask you pro fellows.
1)Is it possible to have a piston with 21mm compression height for turbo application?(setup c)
2)If 21 mm compression height piston is not possible or too stretched,what about setup b with 25mm compression height pistons?

in conparison from 1.58(b18c) to 1.96(setup c) in combination with a turbocharger gonna result at a much better high rpm torque?

This depends what you want to do with the car. I destroked with a b17 crank, but bored out to 84mm. So the car is still a 1.8L I was looking for torque control with the build. I wasn't trying to make maximum power, I wanted good usable/controllable power from 5-9k for the road course.
@20psi (gt3071r) the car made 398hp(9.5k) / 249ft-lbs(5.4k). Torque didn't drop really at all past the crossover. Its a straight line up until 8k or so then it starts to slightly drop. I've seen people make 300ft-lbs with the stock b18 cranks and relatively the same setup.
Oh, hit me up if you decided to go the 5.967 rods. I've got an unsed eagle set, for cheap.
