Default B18b boosted with b16 tranny

JDM B18b motor
garrette t3/t4 57/60 turbo
b16 tranny
8-10psi

only thing i'm wondering about is that the ls only redlines at 7200 rpm and the b16 tranny has faster gears than the ls tranny. i'm not looking to make a **** load of power and will more than likely not even go past 10psi, just want something fun for the streets in my eg hatchback. time wise, just looking for mid to low 13's on some drag radials with maybe 110mph traps.

Shorter gearing is always better for acceleration, period. B16 is the shortest you can get and therefore the best for racing. Having said that, on the street I would personally prefer the GSR tranny as an excellent compromise. I used to (and HT as a whole, still does) think that max performance was the deciding factor when modding your car. I never accounted for practicality on the street - the fact is that I spend 99.99% of my time driving on the street, though. You want a solid, tame setup for the street IMO; this doesn't mean you sacrifice power necessarily, but gearing you might want to think about. With a B16 tranny you will constantly be buzzing at 4-4500rpms on the highway; with a GSR 35-4000. The GSR trans will just make the whole car a little more laid back for street driving, so I say get a GSR if that's what you're after.
