B18A1 LST VTEC or B18C1 W/Turbo DD
I want to start by saying this will be my first Honda build and I plan to do everything myself except for the final tune. The car is also my daily driver and will probably never see the track.
I currently have a 93 Integra with a B18A1 stock engine (150k miles). The engine has a few oil leaks throughout many gaskets so I figured it is due for a rebuild.
GOAL = 300hp
I just picked up a B18C1 complete stock head with 75k miles on it for only $200 and was thinking of rebuilding my bottom end of the A1 and going LS VTEC, but then I found a lot of posts calling the LS VTEC "crap and unreliable" like this site http://www.phatwhippincrx.20m.com/custom4.html so now I'm a little hesitant to go that route. My other thinking was to just buy the C1 short block to match my head and just go with a full GSR motor. I've found some C1 bottom ends selling without the pistons or rods for only $250. So there is my first question.
My second question is, if I keep the A1 to rebuild, I have found that the posts say you can run stock internals up to 300-330hp. Would that be the best route to go or would the engine be more reliable to upgrade some internals to help with LS VTEC reliability? I have seen many rebuild kits, anyone have a brand preference on stock internal kits?
Other information that might be good to know is that I plan to run either the GSR motor or LS VTEC NA till next summer. Then I plan on dropping a turbo in so my 300 hp goal is my turbo'd end goal obviously.
I have read so many other posts over the last few months that my head is beginning to spin, so any information specific to this build would be great. Sorry if this post is all over the place. Once I decide which motor to go with I will need to start putting together a parts list. If I forgot anything please let me know. Thanks

After a little more research I came across this great Turbo Guide http://www.beesandgoats.com/boostfaq/g2icturbo.html and decided to go ahead with the A1 block and GSR head.
My other question still stands though... since I don't want to rebuild twice before next summer, what should I replace to prep for the turbo? I know I will have higher compression with the GSR head, what type of pistons should I go with? Can I go with the P30's or should I run something more stock? Thanks again
