Default b16a2 turbo with basemap. Questions! Searched!

So i got my kit on my car, drove it for about a month with stock ecu an no WG spring, turbo never got over 3psi.

Then, last week i put on my TT 550CC injectors, my OBD1 p28 with base map bought from pharable.net for my applacation. I also have a vafc in my car aswell. So, Started right up, life is good! now i have some questions about BASE MAPS working together an my VAFC.

So my car was WAY fast with just the base map, so i added some fuel around the time when my turbo spools like 4k all the way to about 8k to be on the safe side. I DONT wanna blow it up! I dont drive it to hard like this, i shift highest at like 5200. But i dont touh boost much.

Q is the vafc going to make things worse? Im not trying to tune it im trying to make sure it wont blow befor i can get tuned. Witch should be with in a month or so.

Q- I turned v-tec off cause a Tuner told me that timing needs to be right for a FI car with v-tec to have the right timing curve. An that it is better safethen sorry....

I have been searching day an night for months as i put it together an still have some questions about my set up. So any info will help me out!

The VAFC will allow you to add a little fuel where necessary in the map; however, if you dont have a wideband, you'll never know where fuel is needed. With the Phearable ECU, you shouldn't need the VAFC, but i would strongly advise not hitting boost because you are still running a basemap. The basemap is merely a guess tune which will allow you to drive on the setup...not boost. If you do boost, you run the risk of having problems. Get your car tuned ASAP and then you can have fun. I would just hate to see you get a turbo setup almost completed only to blow it up

good points! thanks

Yeah, another tuner i spoke with told me to disconect the map sensor on the vafc an put that back to stock. Witch i can easly do. Just figured better to be rich an get crappy gas milage rather then blow it up.

any other IMO or facts, info, thoughts are welcome!

Also, what should i be looking for as far as detanation? my plugs are black an white on the tip after doing a 5k pull then shutting it off coasting to stop.

thanks agan bro

If you dont boost, you wont have to worry about detonation. I think for the time being, that's the best policy for you. The worst thing you can do at the moment is push your setup hard and hope you're not detonating. Get it tuned and then you can rip on it all you want.
