Default B16A vs B18C1 vs B18B vs B20B vs D16Z6

For a street set-up, what would be the best motor to run 7-10psi daily? I know the B18C1 should produce the most power but would it be worth the extra cost? This would be with a homemade kit or a Revhard or Drag kit.

This has been covered sooooo many times. Do research on every single setup posted on Honda Tech. That will give you all the info you need to make up your mind.

if you have read all of the threads concerning which motor is better than why post up? this thread will turn into nothing but an opinionated **** storm. its all about personal choice, which one were you leaning towards?

The other thing I've been thinking is whether to buy a EX and slap on the turbo kit and bolt-on's? Or buy a hatch and do a motor swap and turbo kit? I'm not sure how much is too much. I think I won't be happy with the EX. I want somthing in the 250WHP range.

in my opinion, i think b16 is a great street car because it does that produce as much torque as lets say an ls/vtec would.(keeping motor stock?)

less torque= better traction, better traction=better for the streets (on street tires that is).

I would personally buy the hatch (its lighter)and then to get the ex.

250 whp is easy to achieve for a street car (ofcourse with a turbo kit)

I have have a Mustang GT now. I'm all over the place. I love small cars and I love sleepers. I don't know if I want a Civic or a 240sx. Or if I take the sleeper route I would get a 96-97 4.6 Ford T-Bird and supercharge it or a 98-99 Buick Regal GS. Which comes with the series II 3.8 Supercharged. Which is a very easy engine to mod. It's either the little quick nimble car. Or the roomy strait line fast grandpa car.

Well the B18C1 is the best of those motors in N/A form, and it will still be better when you slap on a turbo kit. I spent the extra money and got the B18C1, now I'm boosting and it was well worth the money. Another thing about horse power is that it's addictive. You're saying you just want around 250whp, but trust me, that is going to get old really really fast, and you're going to want more.

its all about personal preference. b16, gsr, and LS are all capable of about the same HP in stock form.

That's true, but most likely it will take more boost to get the power out of an LS or B16, and even at the same power level all three motors feel very different.

LS = Torque down low/midrange, weak top end (crappy tranny)
B16 = Powerless before 5k rpms, good top end (great tranny)
B18C1= Torque down low/midrange, good top end (good tranny)

That is just my opinion, based on the cars that I've driven.

it all depends on how much money you have and how fast you want to be. oviously a 2.0 bseris vtec is going to make the most hp and cost the most. a 1.8 bseris is going to make less hp and a b16 is even going to make less than the 1.8

if you cheep and the the best way to get easy power is a d16 turbo
the d seris turbo will make the most hp per dollar by far. my friends has a $400 d15 and a cheep junk yark $1000 turbo tuned on uberdata and he makes 200whp and 160whp in a light hatch and that thing if really fast for what it is. traps 100mph in the 1/4 good for high 13's.

but if you have money by all means go for a 2.0 built b seris vtec. and if you dont have enough money for than build a gsr turbo. if thats too much money turbo a stock b16. b16 long blocks are only $600. if your too cheep for that turbo a stock ls. ls long blocks are only $200. so you dont need to be scard if it blows and it will make mopre power than a stock turbo d seris

persionally i would just save up and do everything and build a sleeved b seris vtec ( not b16) turbo
