When my head gasket is leaking my coolant looks like crap, lots of little bits of black combustion byproducts in it.

If it was me, i would change the oil and watch the oil (look under the oil cap for foam) check the coolant and watch for overheating.

Wait ... You have driven the car 10 miles or so since Aug 12, 2006? If your coolant checks out it might just be time to change that oil. Put a couple miles on it. Keep an eye on the oil and coolant

It's been verifed. I do need a head gasket. I already picked up some ARP headstuds and an OEM stock head gasket. Anybody have suggestions on anything else I should replace/upgrade while I have the head off. I was thinking of having new valve seals installed (car has 73k miles).... Thanks.
