B16 turbo/oil out of exhaust
Im on my second turbo setup and now im seeing oil comming out of the exhaust? No oil in IC piping. Had to get smaller jet for oil inline feed because sendng more oil then could drain whoich result in oil commin thru seal of turbo and out exhaust..Not sure of my problem..bottom end built, have crankcase ventilation....replaced only turbo and manifold. Cylinder walls look fine from pulling spark plugs. I hope the seal isnt bad on exhaust of turbo... Only smokes when shifting around 3-5k..does not smoke when on it hard?? Im confused..thank you for help

Sounds like a drain issue.
I have the same problem, turbo is clocked at a crazy angle, so it doesnt drain very well.

Re: B16 turbo/oil out of exhaust
What kind of turbocharger is it; bb nonbb? Whats the mileage on it?
Is the drain ABOVE the oil level?
What size line are you running to the turbocharger? What size is the restrictor?
Describe your crankcase evac setup
I bet its a drain issue as well.

Re: B16 turbo/oil out of exhaust
Turbo is a garrett t3/t4 non BB turbo less than 50 miles
Feed line is -3 line with 0.25 reducer...drain line is a half inch hose
will post pics later...Breather comes from valve cover to catch can and then from the nipple on the head passenger side where breather box would go
Drain line come directly down then 90's down but no kink in line..maybe the 90 is killing it??? Drain is above oil level. Thanks

Re: B16 turbo/oil out of exhaust
Maybe the oil return is tapped to low in the oil pan? and its backing up the drain
also i have vacuum line from intake mani with one way check valve goin to a tee and teed off at back of block with two hoses connected to it from the block...Is my crankcase vent all jacked up?? Like i said im stumped

I'd still check the oil drain (post up some pictures) and if its easy, check out to the shaft play and verify if the thrust is wiped out already.
I'd also use 3/4" drain hose or -10/-12 minimum for your drain... 1/2" is a joke and probably part of the problem as well.Dual ball bearing turbochargers can sometimes get away with 5/8" but even then, you wouldn't catch me running it that way. Bigger is always better for the oil drain.
Good luck
