b16 cheap turbo, but safe?
if i wanted to boost my b16. nothing crazy, just like 5 pounds at it... what is the cheapest way to do it safe?
im not talking ghetto, but instead of getting a $800 equal length manifold and hondata, what are my alternatives?

here we go with the triangle again:
fast and cheap is not reliable.
cheap and reliable is not fast
reliable and fast is not cheap.
do yourself a favor and read up on it. do not skimp on anything. remember, you are only as good as your weakest link. i am now waiting for my tranny to **** out.
if you are looking to go 5 psi and dont want to do any engine management, may i suggest a kit that has some means of fuel enrichment. either via a control box, like the greddy, or through an fm like the drag kit. if you dont think you will outgrow it, trust me you will, go with the greddy kit. i like the drag kit, i had it on my car for the betterpart of 4 years. i outgrew it finally. just stay away from ss auto ****. you will regret it if you buy their stuff.

I'm pretty sure this is the only guy that actually read the post before responding. There are plenty of alternatives to those $$$ manifolds. Look into a log manifold, get piping from JC whitney, JRC intercooler, etc. Check the classifieds out. If you take your time you can find some killer deals Good luck. BTW: Check out Spoolin Performance they are the ****! Good luck man
As far as engine management goes...your close enough to Evans Tuning in PA...look into neptune for a good EM. http://www.evans-tuning.com

those are 2 things that cant go together.
either do the fum or the hack with the vafc.
neptune is the way to go if you are on a budget. i myself have had awesome luck with hondata. but if you are gonna stay with the boost low, an fmu is ok. not the greatest, but it is ok.

I'm about to order a log manifold, downpipe, dumptube combo from Spoolin Performance. The whole package costs less than most places charge for just a manifold! I hear nothing but great things about Spoolin Performance.....

Re: b16 cheap turbo, but safe? (TopSecretEg6)
-TD04 14G turbo w/ 7lb wastegate and had a T3 flange welded on.
-T3 logstyle manifold
-uberdata/crome
-310cc DSM injectors
-Do your own intercooler/downpipe
-Wideband O2
Should be able to do all of that for or less than $800.
edit: Forgot -JRC 6" FMIC- $155 for the unpretty version

Stop right there buddy. How cheap are you planning on going? A pump gas NepTune tune is about 600 bucks...and that includes the cost of the software...Unless ou wanna grenade your motor...have it tuned properly...its THE MOST important part of a set-up...Goold luck
