B16/B20 400hp dreams!
Whats up beautiful people. I am working on a daily driver build for myself. I have a 95 4 door civic with a recently swapped JDM d16b2. I am just looking to add some fun to this car. Everything is stock. Except for minor upgrades Intake, suspension ext. I am looking to run a low boost on this motor. Also this is a budget build. I am also looking for a low spool system. More low end power, i live in the mountains so no need to whined out 8000 rpms. any suggestions would be helpful, Thanks!

Update! thanks for the replies and advice. I now have a b16a2 motor, GSR transmission and a B20 Block! This is still a budget build but here's my plans. #1 swap out pos d16 for b16. #2 Boost b16, run low boost around 7 psi. #3 Build bottom end of b20 block. #4 Transfer the vtech head from the b16 to the b20. #5 lastly, Boost b20! around 12psi of course i will have all boost tuned! I'm thinking with the b20 build i can make 405 to the wheels easy. Thoughts?
Also, if i keep the boost low on the b16 i should be making decent hp and preserve the motor. Until my b20 is good to go.

Power, not the boost is what counts. Up to around 350 you should be pretty solid on the b16, top end seems more robust on VTEC heads. B20 is going to want those lower boost pressures to keep IATs low and/or combine with meth injection or e85. This should help keep the cylinder temps lower to avoid cracking the stock sleeves, or just get your block sleeved.

I'm posting from mobile, but as mentioned above the B20 engine, unlike B18 and B16, has weaker cylinder walls by design. You could actually make a bit more power more reliably on the b16 block if you built that.
Iirc the webbing/cast between cylinders 2 & 3 on B20s use a "Siamese" design that makes failure along that wall more likely. Citation on the exact details may be needed.
My advice: Either boost the b16 like you planned, sell the b20 block, and start building a b18.
Or, do B20 VTEC all motor with the b20 block and b16 head, then build the b16 block with rods and pistons and go full b16 with boost once you're done.

A small turbo will be fun. I ran a 14b off an eagle talon for a number of years with my stock b16. Great gas mileage and fun responsive power. I think it spooled faster than a supercharger would since I could hit 10 psi around 4500rpm.
I like Chance EG's plan, but little different. I'd turbo the b16 stock, then build the b20 block over the next 2 years. Then swap in the b20 block to your boosted setup. $ is surely the dictator in this.

Yeh those t25's spool quick but they kinda weak.
U need to get oil in that turbo prob the hardest part of the job, and maybe a custom downpipe. I bet ebay would have a pre made t25 for a civic tho.

I'll give you until 9.13.2016 to decide one of two options
A) D-series dreams is now closed because you're now going B16/B20
B) Rename this thread B16/B20 400hp dreams...
