b16 84mm very bad gas mileage!
ok well since i got my car tuned wit the rebuild i notice my gas mileage is badddd... i have a 00 civic si b16 turbo. orignally had stock internals with 450cc injectors and my gas mileage wasnt that bad on 3 pounds of boost.. now i re-tuned it after i got new pistons 8.3:1, rods, sleeved, 6 pounds of boost and same 450cc injectors. tuner tuned it up to 7K rmp becuz i need bigger injectors. but my gas mileage is realllyy bad. im thinking if its tuned to 7K with 450cc now and its this bad.. wat will happen if i get bigger injectors and higher RPM? anyone knw if there culd be sumthn in particular that may be causing this? if i pour gas and drive say 50 miles and let the car run boost 3-4 times in 5th gear. my gas needle is already about half way down.

on average a 1.8 motor boosted gets between 20-25mpg with moderate playing around.
Your bored to a 2.0 with much lower compression, so your probably using more pedal to try & drive it normal, let alone getting into boost.

With 9:1 compression on my 1.8 I get 25mpg with E85 with plenty of beating on it. I would guess its a tuning issue. You should be getting 25-30 pretty easily. 50 miles on half a tank is def not right.

Exactly. Good gas mileage and a very good street tune is not exactly the quickest or easiest thing to do.
As for my 84mm 9:1 motor, I get about 32mpg cruising on the highway around 80. I got about 38-40 cruising at 90ish two tanks ago which was pretty sweet haha.

um ya it does matter to some point.. i dnt plan on getting more mileage of course but i wuld want some decent mileage.. and it also matters becuz it culd be something wrong that culd cause damage.
i have a air fuel ratio which is blah! but want to get a wideband one by aem

Have your tuner pull up your Air/Fuel ratio table (AFR) on the Hondata S200. Check to see if you are running any richer than 11.5 when in boost. Check your partial throttle AFRs to make sure they are not over rich.

You can't tune fuel mileage on a dyno man. All of my hondas usually get around 30-35 mpg. It takes a couple of hours on the street just driving normally to get it right.
And I don't really care what you have for a turbo, you are not running out of fuel at 7k on 6 lbs of boost with 450's. Any turbo large enough to make that kind of power is going to be so far below it's efficiency range at 6 lbs it's going to be a restriction.
