It was sprayed with varnish/lackeur ( is that the correct term for clear coat?) , then sanded by hand with 1500 - 3000 paper then clear coat sprayed again?
Its insane.

I did 3 coats of base, 4 coats of clear, 1000, 2000, 3000 wet sand and then compound, polish and ultrafine buff. I thought about clearing 4 coats, then a 400 wet sanding to flatten the clear and re-shooting but then I thought this car comes apart a lot, racing and all that I didn't want to put too much into it. Now if it was a show car only yeah I would do that but I'm good with how it looks now.

I try and keep it looking fresh, I usually have to re-spray front end parts at least once a year. I have painted and body worked that front bumper at least 6 times since I've had the front end.

So I am pretty excited, just ordered a tig welder and really can’t wait to get it going.

I did a bunch of reviewing on this product I watched quite a few people who own Miller Welders do testing against theirs and they all really like the Digital 200. Now obviously if you are running some major type of fabrication shop of course you probably want something better which is why some of those nice Millers are in the 5k plus range. Even a pretty decent starter Miller is about 2k.

This machine was about $1100 shipped so I'm hoping it does pretty good LOL.

Got one (not the same brand) from Harbor Freight for half the price, has served me well for 3 years. Tigs are pricey, no doubt about it. I'd love a plasma cutter as well but just don't do enough of THAT type of work to justify that purchase. A couple various size die grinders will still make good cuts for me.

I have buddies with full blown shops and 5k millers, plasma, plasma tables, benders, CNC machines etc. Right now I wanted something that was pretty good, the digital 200 is cool because you can have like 20 pre loaded settings for different things. So if you set it up to run 1/8th aluminum and have a real good setting you can save that so if you move on to welding some stainless you don't have to go back and adjust the setting. This one you can also setup a pulse setting and not even use the pedal once dialed in and the torch has a built in trigger that replaces the pedal like if you are in a tight corner or good example welding a cage in the car where accessing the foot pedal would be hard you can use the trigger on the torch.

I've never tig welded so this is another thing I am going to practice so I can become self reliant on fabricating my own stuff. One day if I need to get good at building race motors so I can be a one stop shop and never have to have anyone but me working on my stuff LOL.

Got me on that one. I've gotta set it up each time.
Tig welding is fun. For some practice, try painting with a piece of spaghetti. Lol!

Yeah that's the plan, I got a few things I need welded for my car so I am going to be practicing a lot so I can tackle those things myself.

Nice, I have a Lincoln Mig welder but I've always wanted to try tig welding and over the years, especially the past few boy have I spent multi thousands on fabricators. The thing that pushed me over the edge is just the laziness from fabricators, they always hold up the show.

Nice purchase man! Buying a tig welder and learning how to use it was the best investment I’ve made in terms of fabricating my own stuff. I actually learned how to tig weld before I ever mig welded lol. Mig is so easy comparatively.

Thanks, this is one of those things I should have done a few years ago. For the money fabricators charge this is a must, not saying that fabricators don't deserve what they charge LOL but the thousands of dollars I've spent I could have had top of line equipment.

I got to say seeing your posts and what you have been able to do thus far with tig welding got me motivated to go for it.

I completely agree man. Thanks! I’m glad I’m motivating people to build their own stuff. It’s so much more satisfying to build it yourself vs paying to have it done. Self reliance is priceless.
