Automatic Tranny problem... 1st-2nd gear upshifting with CLUD
First off, i appologize this is not turbo related but this forum, in my opinon, has the most knowledgeable individuals in my honest opinion. So hopefully you guys can lend me some help here....
The problem is on my JDM 94 camry, it's my daily driver. I do not know that much about automatic tranny's so i thought i would ask you guys. When upshifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear it takes a while then followed by a large CLUD that jerks/shakes the car. All other gears are fine though. The tranny fluid is at a good level however it is a bit dirty. The rpms are not shooting up like it would on a manual tranny with a slipping clutch so i dont know whether it is related to a electrical solenoid problem, torque converter, or whatever else really. I also tried messing with the O/D OFF button and the ECT button and having O/D OFF helps out a little with shifting a bit quicker.
Changing the tranny fluid is the first thing to do, but i have NO tools here at school and i have 2 HUGE exams this week. I could do this with my left arm tied behind my back so i REALLY hate to pay $80 for the change. Dirty fluid would not cause it only to do that from 1st to 2nd gear though... would it? Do any of you have any ideas or have went through similar problems?
