autozone axles are the best free replacements you can buy.

check your ride height. Axle should be as straight as possible
work towards removing any wheel hop
if your alignment is way off it could increase your chances of snapping an axel

how much power are you making at launch? slicks?

yep...I've broken 3 autozone axles in the past 4 months, and I was running n/a (only 180hp) and alignment is at 0* toe, 1.1* negative camber up front.....I use the stock ones only now. They've held up good so far.

Durolast - pfft, more like neverlast.
they did replace them for free every time though.

Shitty axle's plus lots of power break axles

Try preloading your car.

Guys I make well over 400whp and launch on slicks at 6k on autozone axels with no issues. It's not the axel

i make a decent amnt into the 300whp range currently and launch at 5000-5500 on radials and autozone axles, never broke one. the only axle ive really destroyed has been oem .

the autozones in my car now have seen over 50,000 miles of boost, 200+ ftlbs and probably 30 track passes. no problems whatsoever.

its in the setup and driver. preload the tranny, dont bang gears on bumpy roads.
having wheelhop will increase breakage chances, so will being too low or having improper camber.

i have kyb agx's with the shelf ground control coilovers. new stock monunts with es motor mount inserts and i have the full race traction bar.

iknow they are lift time warantee but it still sucks. i still had to push the car and had to get it towed home. still a big headace.
should i buy some race axles or should i try the auto zones again. summit is haveing a sale on the dds stage 2's
i was on 205 40 17 toyo fx4 all season tires.
are there really any other people that has sucess with auto zone azels? anybody actually run slicks withmore than 300whp on auto zone axles?

You torque down the axle nut or tighten it down with a impact gun?

i wish i had a picture of my axle that broke. it was a clean cut and the spline was stuck in my tranny. i had to weld a bolt to it and pry it out

but alot of people have ran autozone axles on high hp cars, just depends on your driving and mounts primarily.

Yeah I would say get the axles as straight as possible so they are not binding anywhere and you should be ok. The only way an alignment could be that bad is if you hear your tires rubbing when driving down the road (like if they are not moving with the vehicle but rather fighting foward movement).

Also I run el-cheapo axles on my setup and last season broke 0 of them...

I make 500whp and about 410 wheel torque and launch on slicks at 8200. So its not the axles.

thats the point. free axle. they arent hard to change either, after you take the tire off its only like 3 bolts.

id personally rather have my axles be the weak link in the drivetrain. if they arent then they will transfer some of the stress to other parts, maybe causing you to break something else(if that makes sense).

actually its a bitch to change with the full race traction bar. you have to take out the part of the traction bar that bolts to the lca so the axle can come out. with the traction bar the axel will not fit through the shock forks

i just changed it today
i'll be back at irwindale on thursday to try to get some runs in on cheep street tires

I know im about to jinx myself but i have had the same carquest $160 axels in my car for over a year now. I have made if i had to guess over 100 passes on them and running 11.0-11.60's the whole time. I was breaking them often and then i started pre-loading the car on the line, seems to have worked for me.
