attn: SOHC VTEC Turbo Owners...
Hey, those of you running sohc vtec turbo setups...
what turbo setups are you running? have you done a dyno? do you think i can safely run 10 psi on stock internals?
Anyways, im going to attempt to make 225+whp... and i was interested in what you guys have done to take the boost.
I would rather not swap out internals.

Re: attn: SOHC VTEC Turbo Owners... (B-Series Sol)
What turbo are you looking to run is the 1st question..
If with Greddy kit it can be done @ 10 psi, but the tuning is the key on stock internals.
@ 10psi w/ greddy seems you will make about 212-215 to the wheels.
VTC_Civic and JFK78 are make some good #'s with the greddy kit..
I myself am looking at the greddy, apexi kit or possible doing a custom on.
But I mainly autocross and this is my daily driver and 1/4 miles are nothing to me. So I am looking for 10 psi intercooled on stock internals too. Atleast till I get another motor built and hondata.
Hope this helps some..
Eric

Just as a reference I ran a greddy for a while and I was pleased. I am now running an Apexi IHI turbo and it puts the smack down on the greddy. If you can find one cheap it totally worth it. Quality over quantity is my new moto.

One thing to remember is you have to be very careful while tuning a turbo setup with stock internals.
Had a boost controller fail, boost pressure sky rocketed, and parts flew out the oil pan!
I would reccomend tuning without a boost controller first at a set boost, like 7 psi, then when its dialed in, you can turn up the boost from there by adding the boost controller in the system.

this thread is confusing... didnt he just say the apexi kit is better (in his opinion.) and isnt your name b-series sol, not d-series?
uhhh anyway, just get hondata 2b, greddy turbo + intercooler, and you will hit 200whp @10psi no problem.

Screen name= my current car (b16a del sol)
It is for sale, and im buying an EK w/ the intention to turbo it. I feel that I am one step ahead of your average tuner, because I am doing my homework before i buy the car
and if u want Ill make my next screen name D-Series Turbo Hatch or something like that!

I run ~10psi on a stock motor. No dyno or a/f tuning done yet. I've been boosting for about 25,000 miles on a 140,000 mile motor.

That sounds really great. I have to ask how long this set up has been going on? It just doesn't seem very reliable or streetable. I might be more impressed if I knew more about your fuel and spark management.
12's are cool.

I think the FMAX kit come with Lucas injectors, ERL MF2 Inkector Controller, and an MSD-Boost Timing Master...basically, a complete fuel management system.
