ATTN ALL TUNERS!!!! Tuning an automatic?
Any serious tuner please chime in...I just recently put a D16 motor together for a little boost, Keep in mind its getting mated to an AUTO (civic ex trans), Only plan to make 200 hp if that, Wanted to know what program it can be tuned on? Will have an auto vtec ECU. Anyone know?? I keep hearing tons of different things and I just want to know since its getting tuned in spring, Please chime in ANYONE!!! THANKS GUYS!!

No one really knows...thats why no ones has chimed in
All I know that an AUTO OBD1 Computer that originally worked with an external TCU, can be mated with the tranny's proper TCU and a Chip (Crome, Neptune, eCtune) has worked.
The problem being is that D-Series motors that used P05, P06 or P28 AUTO ECUs did not have external TCU's...and the programs that are placed in these ECUs are based on MANUAL stock programs...you may have to shift into each gear manually (if this even works) and then you might not have proper control of the solenoid lockout or whatever that is called. You could probably set up a manual switch to activate that with some trickery...
Maybe you can make a D to B Auto tranny adapter plate, use a B series Auto tranny and proper TCU with the proper ECU setup

A friend of mine had a 420A Neon that ran the stock ECU to run the transmission and an Electromovite TEC3 took care of the engine. Worked pretty well.

NepTune has been successfully used to tune auto setups by Jason Herrera when he was still using the system. An auto P28 was used if I recall correctly and I believe he wasn't the only tuner to have success.

Yes James, but was it a D-Series motor and tranny?
I have had a few customers use RTP for B-Series with External TCU and an H/F Series with external TCU.
Both were OBD1 Cars as well...
