Default ARP rod bolts hitting main cap bridge on D16y8

hey guys I wasn't sure where to post this thread, but anyhow I'm building a D16, yes a single cam. I have a set of Eagle H-beam rods with the Vitara pistons to build my engine for high boost.

anyhow upon installing one rod/piston assembly to check for clearance (according to Eagle, minor clearancing is needed at the bottom of the cylinder walls to allow the assembly to rotate), well besides that, I also discovered something else that is a major problem it seems.

after installing the rod/piston and rotating the crank by hand, I discovered that the heads on the ARP 2000 bolts come in contact with the main bearing cap bridge and jam up.

does anyone have any recommendations as to what I could do to correct this problem? has any other single cam builder with this combo had this problem?

yes, this is normal. you need to notch it just like you notched the lower cylinder walls. I did this and it works perfectly.

thanks, I wasn't sure what to do, I'm a former machinist and I thought about milling a small groove out of the bridge, but wasn't sure if it would affect the strength of the bridge.

i asked eagle what they thought about the situation, but they haven't gotten back about it yet

i guess the should include that in the description of the rods, oh well they are still almost three times as thick as stock rods
