arp bolt torque specs with tuner toys rods
Can somebody tell me the torque specs for the arp rod bolts that come with the tuner toys rods? Apparantely there are two kinds....one that has a torque spec like 26? and another one that is 40ftlbs. Any idea which one it is? Thanks.

if they are forged rods and your are using arp rod bolts, you should be using the arp rod bolt stretch gauge

Don't take the rods into account. They don't effect the amount of torque you put on the bolts. If you have the box it should be written on the side.
Anyway, if its a 3/8" bolt head it should be 28ft/lbs. If its a 7/17" bolt head it should be 43ft/lbs.
I have a rod bolt stretch gauge, bore gauge, micrometers, piston ring compressor/filer etc. if you need to borrow them, btw.

Thanks Tippyman. I dont think the box had it written on the side and if it did that box got left at the machine shop. I'll let you know if i end up needing the stretch gauge. I'm not sure that it will fit past the main's though. I know endyn sais they had trouble doing it and had to cut a spare main in half to use the ends for holding the crank in while torquing the rod bolts using the stretch gauge.

I just figured it out. I cross referenced the 8740 bolt number given from tuner toys with their catalog part number for my motor using that bolt and it sais 26ftlbs. Thanks for the help guys.

Yeah, I spent $800 on precision engine building tools and haven't had a chance to use them yet, so feel free, lol.
The problem with using a torque wrench is that they aren't usually 100% accurate, especially if they aren't a really good brand. When torquing something that needs +- a couple pounds of torque, you don't wanna expletive it up, lol.
